Turku Bioscience Centre at University of Turku, Finland has an open position for a postdoctoral and/or doctoral researcher. The position is for two years, with a possibility for extension. The start date is September 1st 2024, but is negotiable.
Details:
We are looking for a postdoctoral or doctoral researcher for projects that identifies molecular factors and their regulatory networks involved in human diseases. Using large-scale omics datasets and computational methods, the project studies, how the human immune system functions and how this understanding could be utilized in developing new treatments for immune-mediated diseases and cancer. The research employs statistical and machine learning methods as well as bioinformatics tools. The project is carried out in close collaboration with biomedical research teams.
Job description:
The tasks include both the analysis of omics data (e.g. single-cell profiling, proteomics) and the testing and further development of data analysis methods. The focus can be tailored according to the expertise and interests of the applicant. Additionally, the position involves collaboration with multidisciplinary research teams and following the rapidly developing latest methods in the field.
Eligibility Criteria and Qualifications:
The applicant is required to have a PhD or MSc degree in a suitable field (bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science, computer science or similar). We may also consider applicants who have not yet completed their MSc studies, but are graduating soon
Proficient understanding of bioinformatics tools and good programming skills (e.g. R, Python)
Proactive approach in problem solving, self-direction and good cooperation skills
Fluent oral and written English
Salary Details:
The average monthly salary, depending on previous experience and skills, is around 3450 – 3800 euros per month for postdoctoral researcher and around 2400-2900 euros per month for doctoral researcher/project researcher at the beginning of the employment.For a research assistant the salary will be 2200-2300 euros per month.
