2025 France Excellence PhD Scholarships for Palestinian Citizens

The Consulate General of France in Jerusalem opens its scholarship campaign for PhD level for the academic year 2025-2026 allocated for Palestinian Students.

This scholarship program is designed to foster academic exchange and research excellence across disciplines, emphasizing gender equality and co-funding initiatives.

 

France Excellence PhD scholarships overview

The France Excellence PhD Scholarships provide support for Palestinian nationals aiming to study in France for up to three years in the 2025-2026 academic cycle. The program offers scholarships across two major categories:

  1. Multi-disciplinary scholarships (all subjects)

  2. Education and linguistics scholarships

 

Scholarship Benefits

Awardees will receive the following financial and academic support:

  • Monthly Stipend: €1,690 to cover living expenses in France.

  • Travel Support: Round-trip airfare and in-country transportation.

  • Health Coverage: Health and liability insurance throughout the study period.

  • Accommodation Assistance: Campus France will help scholars find housing.

  • Visa Fee Waivers: Scholarship recipients are exempt from French visa fees.

  • Tuition Fees: National university tuition covered at institutions recognized by the French Ministry of Higher Education.


In addition, the scholarship provides free online French language lessons, although beneficiaries should budget for additional costs not covered by the stipend, such as family travel or specific research expenses.

 

Eligiblity Check

To be eligible for the France Excellence PhD scholarship, applicants must meet below criteria

  • Be a Palestinian national and/or have studied in a Palestinian higher education establishment (dual French-Palestinian are not eligible);

  • Be a permanent resident in West Bank, Jerusalem or Gaza strip (candidates currently in exile should provide a proof of address from before their departure);

  • Hold a master’s degree or finishing last year of master;

  • Have at least a level B2 in the language of the thesis (French or English);

  • Have an admission or pre-admission in a certified French higher education establishment hosting a doctoral school;

  • Have a clear and well-thought-out academic project coherent with a professional project

 

Application Procedure & Documents

To apply, prospective candidates need to secure a thesis advisor and pre-admission at a French doctoral school. The application is submitted via email by January 6, 2025, should include:

  1. Passport copy

  2. Admission/pre-admission letter from the doctoral school

  3. Detailed thesis project

  4. Academic transcripts and diplomas

  5. Copy of Tawjihi, baccalaureate or equivalent

  6. Cover letter and CV

  7. Copy of the answers to the application form to be completed in electronic format

  8. Recommendation letters (optional)

  9. Proof of residence (if applicable)
