The IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS) has announced its 2025 Fellowship Program aimed at fostering innovative thinking, expanding global outreach, and enhancing community impact within the ITS domain. Applications are now open for this unique fellowship, which offers participants the chance to engage deeply with the ITS community and contribute to its growth and development.

Fellowship Overview

The fellowship provides an opportunity to actively participate in the Annual ITS Women in Engineering (WiE)/Young Professionals (YP) Workshop & Research Forum in Paris from June 26-28, 2025. Fellows will engage in technical tours of related industries, interact with experts, and visit renowned research labs, gaining valuable insights into cutting-edge ITS research. France's accessible visa process further supports a diverse and inclusive event.

 

Fellowship Benefits

  • Financial Support: Comprehensive coverage of plane tickets, accommodation, and event registration fees. Details about the purchasing/reimbursement process will be provided upon award notification.

  • Ambassador Role: Awardees will be designated as "IEEE ITSS Ambassadors" within their institutions or regions, promoting IEEE ITSS through various channels such as social media, blogs, and videos.

  • Organizational Involvement: Fellows are expected to contribute to the organization of the event, aligning with the fellowship’s objective of cultivating new talents in ITS.

  • Young Reviewers Program: All recipients will join this program, participating in the conference reviewing process. Details will be provided upon award notification.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to applicants from all backgrounds, especially those who can contribute diverse perspectives to ITSS.

  • Targeted at women and young professionals.

  • Active IEEE ITSS membership is required; proof of membership must be provided during submission.

  • Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for future engagement within ITSS, including activities such as committee involvement, conferences, and webinars.

  • Active participation as a reviewer is highly valued, showcasing commitment to supporting flagship conferences through valuable feedback.

 

Application Procedure

  1. Project Proposal Submission: Applicants must submit a project proposal (maximum 500 words) aimed at serving the ITS community and enhancing the visibility and impact of IEEE ITSS. Proposals should align with one of the IEEE ITSS committees' activities, such as organizing workshops, webinars, podcasts, translating educational videos, or proposing new programs.

  2. Submission Deadline: April 7, 2025.

📂 Required Documents:

  • Project Title.

  • Applicant's name, affiliation, and email address.

  • Detailed project proposal (maximum 500 words).

  • Timeline for proposed project milestones during the Project Completion phase (4 weeks apart).

  • Applicant’s short bio and statement of interest, including previous participation in ITSS events (maximum 200 words).


Selection Process & Timeline:

  1. Screening Phase: Initial eligibility check of applicants.

  2. Anonymous Reviewing Phase: Scoring of submitted projects based on selected streams: Social Media Ambassadors, First-Time Attendees, and Outstanding Contributors.

  3. Award Notification: Tentatively April 15, 2025.

  4. Project Completion Phase: April 16 to June 15, 2025.

  5. Final Report Submission: June 20, 2025.


Project Proposal Streams:

1. Social Media Ambassadors: For individuals with a flair for social media outreach to amplify ITSS messages and engage the community.


2. First-Time Attendees:

Supporting newcomers to the annual forum, particularly encouraging women in engineering, underrepresented groups, and young professionals.


3. Outstanding Contributors:

Recognizing individuals who have exhibited exceptional dedication and innovation in advancing the ITS community through impactful projects or dedicated service.
