The Environmental Fellows Program (EFP) at the Yale School of the Environment (YSE) is a prestigious 12-week summer fellowship designed to diversify the environmental field. EFP Program Overview
The EFP was established through a collaboration between the University of Michigan’s School for Environment and Sustainability, the Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA), and the C. S. Mott Foundation. The program is supported by several philanthropic organizations and seeks to identify and train diverse students to work in environmental and philanthropic sectors.

Funding Details
The program offers financial support to its fellows, including:
A bast stipend of $15,000
Supplementary assistance of $1,500 – $2,500 , provided through multiple disbursements throughout the summer
Coverage of travel costs to the site placement and for attending the orientation
ℹ️ The final payment is contingent upon the completion of all program requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the EFP, applicants must:
Have an interest in the environment
Have completed at least one year of graduate or doctoral study by the start of the summer placement
Be currently enrolled in a graduate program (those graduating in the 2024-2025 academic year are still eligible)
Be available to participate fully during the 12 weeks of programming, 40 hours per week, as well as events during orientation and the New Horizons in Conservation convening
Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA/DREAMers) if applying outside of Yale University
