2026 IOA Conference Scholarship

The International Ombudsman Association (IOA) is excited to announce its scholarship opportunities for the 2026 IOA Conference. These scholarships aim to support individuals passionate about conflict resolution and organizational justice, especially those new to the ombuds profession or working in regions where the profession is still developing.

 

About IOA

The International Ombudsman Association (IOA) is the largest international association of professional organizational ombuds. Established to support ombudsmen who work within institutions such as universities, corporations, government agencies, and non-profits, IOA provides resources, training, and certification to promote best practices and uphold the highest ethical standards in the ombuds profession. IOA is dedicated to fostering a global community of practitioners who help organizations improve their conflict resolution processes and ensure fair and equitable treatment for all stakeholders.

 

Types of IOA Scholarships


1. International Scholarships

- Eligibility: Open to individuals located outside the United States and Canada, particularly in regions where the organizational ombuds profession is not well developed.

- Benefits: Covers the full cost of registration for the IOA 2026 event and up to $1,500 USD in travel expenses.

- Goal: To provide greater access to education and support for the ombuds field in underserved regions.


2. New & Aspiring Ombuds Scholarships

- Eligibility: Open to IOA members with less than one year of organizational ombuds practice and lacking financial support from their employer or other organizations.

- Benefits: Covers the full cost of registration and provides a $500 travel stipend.

- Requirement: Scholarship recipients must write a brief summary of their experience and post it on the IOA blog within one week following the conference.

 

Application Process


-Application Period: Applications for the 2025 IOA Conference scholarships have closed, but applications for the 2026 conference are now open.

- Selection Criteria: Priority is given to applicants whose participation can significantly advance the organizational ombuds profession in their regions.

- Reference Requirement: Applicants must provide one reference with their contact information in their application.

- Applications: Interested candidates can apply online through the online application portal linked here, applications are open year round.
