Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Coimbra Group Universities Scholarship Programme for Young African Researchers 2025-2026 intake, applicants must:
Be born on or after January 1, 1980
Be nationals of and current residents in a country in Sub-Saharan Africa
Be current staff members of a university or an equivalent higher education institution in Sub-Saharan Africa
Be preferably of doctoral/postdoctoral or equivalent status
Be in possession of an acceptance letter/email from the tutor/supervisor with whom the work program will be undertaken in the host institution
Use the Coimbra Group Office electronic application process
Apply for one university only (multiple applications will not be considered valid)
Submit all information in English only
Application Procedure
1. Identify a Supervisor:
Applicants should provide the name and contact details of an academic supervisor in the receiving Coimbra Group University who will supervise their work during their stay abroad. If you do not have any contacts, visit this webpage and scroll down to the end of the page where you can find information for each university from the listed above.
2. Obtain Acceptance Letter:
All applicants are requested to provide a letter/email of acceptance written by the academic supervisor from the host university where you would like to carry out the proposed working plan. The letter should state that the supervisor is willing to work with you in case you obtain a Coimbra Group Scholarship.
3. Complete Application Form:
Fill in the online application form only when you have all the data available (i.e., name of and letter of acceptance by supervisor at Coimbra Group University, etc.). Incomplete applications will be rejected, no exceptions will be made.
The online application is available until 31 March 2025 at midnight (Brussels time).
4. Agree on Dates:
The dates of your stay should be agreed upon between the applicant and the academic supervisor at the Coimbra Group University. Typically, this will be during the academic year 2025/2026.
5. Submit Application:
The online application is available until March 31, 2025, at midnight (Brussels time) on the Coimbra Group website.
