Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the DAAD STEM Scholarships 2025, you must meet the following criteria:

2. Academic Background: You must have a first degree (e.g., a Bachelor’s degree) in a STEM field recognized in Germany

3. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English or German, depending on the language of instruction at the chosen university.

4. Age: Generally, applicants should be under 30 years old at the time of application.

5. University Admission: You must have received an admission letter from a German university for a Master’s program in a STEM field.

6. Residency: Applicants should not have been living in Germany for more than 15 months at the application deadline.



➢ Few Notes Regarding Language Requirements for DAAD scholarship in general:


• When you apply to the DAAD for a scholarship, you must provide proof of your current level of proficiency in the language of instruction (German, English, or German and English) in your chosen study pro-gram. You must have already reached at least level B1.


• If the language of instruction is German, the following certificates are usually eligible:


(TestDaF, DSH, Deutsches Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz (DSD), Goethe-Zertifikat, Österreichisches Sprachdiplom, telc Deutsch and onSET Deutsch.)


• If the language of instruction is English, the following certificates can be submitted, for example:

(Cambridge English, Cambridge Business, IELTS, ISE, TOEFL iBT, TOEFL Essentials, TOEIC, PTE Academic and onSET English.)

• English language scores: IELTS not less than 6.0 or TOEFL not less than 550 PB, or German language: not less than B1

  • Additional documents: Any relevant certificates, such as proof of employment or extracurricular activities.
