DESY Summer Student Program Overview
The DESY International Summer Student Program 2025 offers undergraduate and master's students the opportunity to gain first-hand research experience at DESY, one of the world's leading research centers for particle physics. The program spans 8 weeks and includes practical work on detectors, experimental equipment, physics data analysis, software development, theory, and scientific computing. Students will also attend lectures, visit accelerators, experiments, and the computer center, gaining a comprehensive understanding of DESY's research main activities on:
1). Photon Science (Hamburg only):
Topics include nanoscience, molecular sciences, soft-matter, experimental techniques, lasers, and computing.
2). Elementary Particle Physics and Accelerators:
Work on projects related to particle detectors, data analysis, accelerator development, and computing.
3). Astroparticle Physics:
Analyze data from gamma-ray and neutrino observatories, develop instrumentation, and study astrophysical phenomena.
For Application
Applicants can select up to three preferred topics from various research areas.
Projects may involve theoretical studies, experimental setups, or software development, depending on the chosen field.
