Fellows will immerse themselves in the thriving academic environment of the Edinburgh Futures Institute, interacting with researchers, business partners, and third-sector collaborators. They will contribute to the community through guest lectures, collaborative research, and active participation in seminars and training courses.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Hold an open-ended position at an academic institution (or have equivalent career experience and qualifications).
Be based outside the University of Edinburgh.
Demonstrate a strong alignment with one of EFI’s six key research areas.
Show evidence of leadership or engagement in previous research projects.
Are planning to develop an idea for a grant proposal, where a visit to the Futures Institute would benefit the development of this proposal.
Have an academic sponsor from the University of Edinburgh who supports their application.
**Additional Preferences**: Applications from individuals representing underrepresented groups or LMICs are strongly encouraged.
Application Procedure
To apply for this fellowship, fellow below steps:
1. Identify an Academic Sponsor:
Contact a member of the University of Edinburgh’s academic community to act as your sponsor. The sponsor must provide a written statement of support.
When looking for a sponsor, it is recommend that the Fellow first approaches researchers at Edinburgh who they have collaborated with previously. Fellows can also look at staff at the Centres and Clusters. The sponsor can be based in any School and College in the university, and there is no requirement for them to have an existing relationship or involvement with EFI. Please note that an academic sponsor offers no financial sponsorship— this comes from the bursary you will receive if your application is successful.
2. Prepare Your Application:
Ensure your proposal demonstrates:
Research and engagement leadership
Potential for research impact and societal relevance
Plans to contribute to the EFI and the University of Edinburgh’s academic community
3. Submit Online Application:
