The EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program (OFP) 2025 is a fully funded initiative by the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, designed to support academically talented but financially disadvantaged Nigerian students in pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in the United States. The program aims to assist these students through the U.S. university application process, providing both financial and advisory support to help them gain admission into top U.S. universities with full financial aid.

 

🎁 Program Benefits

OFP covers various costs associated with the application process, including:

  • Standardized test fees (TOEFL, SAT, GRE, etc.)

  • Application and visa processing fees

  • SEVIS fee and travel expenses to the U.S.

  • Credential evaluation fees (if needed)

  • Settlement stipend upon arrival in the U.S.

  • Comprehensive advisory services throughout the application process

  • Pre-departure orientation and transition support

  • Long-term mentoring and networking opportunities

 

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a Nigerian citizen

  2. Demonstrate strong academic performance

  3. Show evidence of financial need

  4. Exhibit leadership potential and community involvement

  5. Commit to returning to Nigeria after completing studies

  6. Be willing to apply for financial aid at U.S. institutions


Undergraduate Applicants:

  1. Must be in SS3 or have completed WAEC (May/June only)

  2. Students already enrolled in a university are not eligible


Graduate Applicants:

  1. Must possess a university degree and transcript

  2. A minimum CGPA of 4.0/5.0 is recommended

Undergraduate Applicants:

  • SS1 & SS2 end-of-year reports (PDF)

  • Mock WAEC result or official WAEC result (PDF)

  • Other supporting documents (PDF)


Graduate Applicants:

  • University transcript (PDF)

  • Statement of Result/Degree (PDF)

  • Detailed academic curriculum vitae (PDF)

  • Supplementary certificates of achievement (PDF)

  • GRE result (recommended for engineering students) (PDF)

 

📝 Application Process

Interested candidates should complete the application form and upload the required documents by the deadline. The selection process involves evaluation by an EducationUSA adviser, Regional Educational Advising Coordinator (REAC), and the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy/Consulate.
