The fellowship provides students with exposure, information, and experience needed to begin a career in television programming or production. Fellows gain hands-on learning through a paid internship at a partner television station, enhancing professional skills and opening doors to networking and future career opportunities.


Key Components, Structure, and Activities

The fellowship is structured as follows:

  • Duration: 4 months (June - July 2025)

  • Internship: Each fellow is paired with a host television station for a two-month internship.

  • Curriculum: Fellows gain hands-on experience in television programming and production, including tasks such as observing content acquisition, assisting with editing, supporting show formulation, and operating studio equipment.

  • Activities: Fellows participate in virtual program learning sessions, attend biweekly mentorship meetings, and develop a capstone project.

 

ECF Fellowship Benefits

The Emerson Coleman Fellowship offers several benefits:

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Emerson Coleman Fellowship 2025, Applicants must:

  1. Be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  2. Be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent graduate (Class of 2023-2024) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

  3. Be 18 years of age or older.

  4. Have a degree or interest in liberal arts, creative writing, communications, media, TV & Film Production, and other television-related majors.

  5. Possess strong written and oral communication skills, be organized, detail-oriented, and a team player.

  6. Have an existing and current showcase of work, either through a professional portfolio, social media platform, or professional website.
