Curriculum and Program Structure

The EMINENT program follows a structured approach, combining theoretical knowledge and practical skills across various specializations:


1. First Semester: Introduction to nanotechnology at the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU).


2. Second Semester: Focus on sensors, devices, and embedded systems at the University of Siegen.


3. Third Semester and Beyond: Specialization phase where students choose one of the following tracks:

  • Embedded Intelligent Sensorics - (University of Siegen)

  • Functional Materials and Optoelectronic Properties (Hellenic Mediterranean University)

  • Natural Materials and Biosensors (New University of Lisbon)

  • Internet of Things (University of Orléans)

  • Sensor Systems and Data Processing (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University)

EMINENT Eligibility Criteria

1). Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Computer Science, or equivalent programs with at least 180 ECTS.


2). Grades: Final grade should be at least a 2.7 (in the German grading system) after translation using the modified Bavarian formula.


3). Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English B2 Level, as all courses are taught in English.


🔠 English Language Proficiency Details

Good command of English language skills: B2 level validated by a certification issued by a test-center i.e. TOEFL iBT (minimum score 93), IELTS Academic (minimum score 6.5 with no individual score under 6), PTE Academic 63 or Cambridge English Qualifications 178 – “Medium of Instruction” (MOI) certificates are not sufficient. The result of the test should be valid at least 14 days after the application deadline.


• Exemptions

  • Candidates that have obtained their bachelor’s (or master’s) degree in a study course taught in the English language in an EU country or in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the USA, or Switzerland do not require an English test result.

  • For nationals of countries where English is the ONLY OFFICIAL language, proof of English language skills is also not required.
