Erasmus Mundus International Masters in Risk Assessment and Management of Civil Infrastructures (NORISK)

The Erasmus Mundus International Master in Risk Assessment and Management of Civil Infrastructures (NORISK) is a specialized one-year master's program designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in the assessment, management, reliability, and risk analysis of civil infrastructures. The program is a collaboration between four prestigious European universities: University of Minho (Portugal), Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain), University of La Rochelle (France), and University of Padova (Italy).

NORISK focuses on providing students with hands-on learning experiences, cutting-edge research opportunities, and industry collaborations, preparing them to address real-world challenges in infrastructure management. The program emphasizes sustainability, resilience, and digitalization, aiming to produce professionals capable of optimizing and managing critical infrastructures such as energy, transport, communications, water, health, and national security systems.

Eligiblity Criteria

To be eligible for Erasmus Mundus International Masters in Risk Assessment and Management of Civil Infrastructures (NORISK) , you need to meet the following criteria:


1. Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil, environmental, architectural, etc.) or in sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, operations) or in economics with an engineering background. Other degrees (e.g., architecture, law, business, social sciences) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.


2. Academic Excellence: A strong academic record, typically a high GPA, and/or relevant research experience.


3. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English, as the program is conducted in English. If your previous studies were in English, an official letter from your university confirming this can be used as proof; see details here.


4. Application Deadline: Bachelor's degree must be awarded before September 15 of the academic year the program starts.

Applications for the academic year 2025/2026 are will be open soon!

The opportunities to apply are grouped into three calls, as shown on this webpage. Note that the EU Scholarships will only be available during the first call, so it is important to submit applications within this call, if funding by EU is sought. NORISK also provides Consortium Scholarships. Most of the Consortium Scholarships will be available during the first call.


Application Documents

Upon application, students must provide:

  1. Letter of motivation between 1500 and 5000 characters

  2. Detailed Curriculum Vitae in European format

  3. Certificates and diplomas from previous universities studies;

  4. Transcripts of records including grades and course syllabus from previous university studies;

  5. English proficiency certificates;

  6. Certificates of relevant work experience and other professional certificates, if any;

  7. Two recommendation letters (sent by the applicant directly through the application portal);

  8. Proof of residence (issued within 12 months before the submission deadline) – only for the first call

  • 1st Call: January 15, 2025 at 23:59

  • 2nd Call: April 30, 2025 at 23:59

  • 3rd Call: June 1, 2025 at 23:59
