CAIS Fellowship Benefits
The DAAD Residential Fellowships at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) 2025 offer the following financial support:
1. Monthly Grant:
- Fellows on sabbatical leave with a full salary receive an additional grant of **€600 per month**.
- Fellows with no regular income receive a grant of €2,000 per month*
- Fellows earning below €1,400 will have their income supplemented up to €2,000 per month.
- An extra €100 per month is provided for each child under 18.
2. Accommodation: Rent-free, fully furnished two-room apartments suitable for families. Larger apartments are available for fellows with more than one child.
3. Travel Expenses: Travel expenses for one round trip to Bochum or daily commute costs are covered.
4. Additional Support: Additional financial support for research expenses is available, and fellows can apply for grants to invite Visiting Fellows or experts for workshops and lectures.
Target Group
CAIS College funds innovative projects that deal with the social opportunities and challenges of digital transformation, and develop perspectives for practice. The funding programme is open to excellent scholars and practitioners, to all disciplines and areas of investigation, as well as to pure research and to projects that are more applied in orientation.
Academic Requirements
An academic degree is not required, if applicants are highly distinguished within their peer group. Master's theses or PhD dissertations cannot be funded.
The common language at CAIS is English. Therefore, Fellows should have a very good command of English

Applications can be submitted in German or English via the application form on the DAAD website. An application consists of the following elements:
