If you are a PhD student, postdoctoral researcher, early-career academic, or assistant professor with a passion for financial literacy, personal finance, and decision-making research, the applications for the Financial Literacy Research Boot Camp 2025 are now open. Organized by the G53 Financial Literacy and Personal Finance Research Network in collaboration with Stanford University's Initiative for Financial Decision-Making (IFDM), this intensive, fully funded workshop offers a rare opportunity to learn from world-leading experts and advance your research career.


Held at Stanford University, the program aims to deepen participants' knowledge, enhance methodological skills, and foster a supportive network for emerging scholars in the fields of financial literacy, household finance, and applied econometrics.

The Financial Literacy Research Boot Camp 2025 is a full-immersion, five-day academic program designed to equip participants with robust research methodologies tailored to the study of financial literacy and personal finance. Key highlights include:

  • Survey Design and Measurement Techniques: Learn how to build effective surveys that accurately capture financial behaviors and attitudes.

  • Theoretical Models of Financial Decision-Making: Explore conceptual frameworks for understanding how individuals make financial choices.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  1. Be currently enrolled in a PhD program (having completed at least one year) or be working as a postdoc, early-career researcher, or assistant professor.

  2. Hold or be pursuing a PhD in economics, finance, or a closely related field.

  3. Demonstrate a strong interest in financial literacy, personal finance, or financial decision-making research.

  4. Be able to participate in the full duration of the program at Stanford University.

  5. Commit to completing pre-assigned readings ahead of the boot camp.

 

📝 Application Procedure

To apply for the Financial Literacy Research Boot Camp 2025:


1. Prepare the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • A one- to two-page essay summarizing your research work (current and intended) and your motivation for attending

  • Two letters of recommendation:

- One from a current or former PhD advisor

- One from another scholar familiar with your research


2. Submission Instructions:

  • Assemble your CV and essay into a single PDF file and Email your application to (contact@g53network.org)

  • Letters of recommendation must be sent directly by the referees to the same email address.


3. Deadline:

  • All application materials, including letters of recommendation, must be received by April 30, 2025.

  • Acceptance decisions will be communicated in early May 2025.
