The Käte Hamburger Kolleg Cultures of Research (c:o/re) at RWTH Aachen University invites applications for up to ten fellowships, starting in October 2025 for up to twelve months. The application deadline is December 31, 2024. Details below

 

Fellowship Overview

The c:o/re is an international center for advanced studies funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It seeks ten international fellows from the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, life sciences, and technical sciences. The center provides a space for fellows to develop their research and exchange ideas, focusing on the diverse research cultures within the sciences.


Topics of Focus

For the 2025/2026 academic year, the center is particularly interested in projects related to 'digitality/complexity.' Areas of interest include:

  • The digital/non-digital divide in science and engineering

  • Varieties of digital cultures for knowledge production

  • The influence of AI on science and technology

 

Participation and Benefits

Fellows will join the center for six to twelve months, starting in October 2025. The fellowship offers a grant based on professional experience, office space, logistical support, and access to research facilities. Fellows who take unpaid leave during their fellowship will receive a stipend or funding for a teaching replacement at their home institution. Regular presence and participation in weekly events at the center are mandatory, with residency in Aachen required.

Application Process

Applications are open to postdoctoral researchers (PhD completed) and senior researchers with distinguished work in the center’s thematic focus.
