Applications are now open for the Futuremakers Women in Tech (WiT) Uganda Program 2025, a transformative initiative that empowers women entrepreneurs to innovate, lead, and inspire. Through world-class mentorship, business training, and catalytic funding, the program seeks to build a thriving ecosystem of women-led businesses that fuel inclusive economic growth and digital innovation.

  • Host Institution: Future Lab (Implemented by The Innovation Village), supported by Standard Chartered Foundation and Standard Chartered Bank

  • Programme Type: Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program

  • Target Group: Women entrepreneurs leading tech or tech-enabled businesses in Uganda

  • Fields of Focus: Technology, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Economic Development

  • Award Value: Up to $10,000 in catalytic grant funding, business training, mentorship, and market linkage support

  • Duration: June to September 2025

💡 Program Overview

The Futuremakers Women in Tech (WiT) Uganda Program is much more than an accelerator—it's a catalyst for change. The program directly addresses the gender gap in Uganda’s tech and innovation sectors by placing women entrepreneurs at the center of digital transformation. It provides a robust platform where women-led businesses receive the tools, funding, mentorship, and community support they need to scale their impact.


Participants will benefit from:

  • Investment readiness training and technical assistance tailored for women-led enterprises.

  • Hands-on coaching to improve operational efficiency and leadership skills.

  • Strategies for securing market linkages and accelerating business growth.

  • Opportunities for receiving a catalytic grant of up to $10,000 for top-performing businesses.

  • Access to a Community of Practice (CoP) that fosters peer learning, mentorship, and long-term networking.


The program is committed to building a more inclusive digital economy by strengthening the capacity of women entrepreneurs to create jobs, solve real-world problems, and drive sustainable development.


🗓️ Program Structure and Schedule

The Futuremakers Women in Tech Uganda 2025 program follows a comprehensive and immersive schedule:


  • April 17, 2025: Applications Open

  • May 30, 2025: Application Deadline

  • June 2 – June 4, 2025: Application Review and Shortlisting

  • June 5 – June 6, 2025: Final Interviews and Selection

  • June 11, 2025: Cohort Announcement

  • June 12, 2025: Program Kickoff

  • June 16 – August 15, 2025: Acceleration Bootcamp

  • July 16 – August 15, 2025: Mentorship & Coaching Phase

  • August 28, 2025: Demo Day and Graduation

  • September 8 – September 19, 2025: Roadshow and Business Exposure Opportunities


Throughout this journey, entrepreneurs will engage in customized workshops, pitch practice sessions, mentorship circles, and networking events, culminating in Demo Day where they showcase their businesses to potential investors and partners.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Futuremakers Women in Tech (WiT) Uganda Program 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Women-led: At least one woman co-founder involved full-time in the business.

  2. Registered in Uganda: Business must be legally incorporated and operating within Uganda.

  3. Small-Scale Business: Employs fewer than 10 people with annual revenue under USD 100,000.

  4. Business Stage: Must have a minimum viable product (MVP) with validation (revenue, user adoption, pilot projects, or partnerships).

  5. Tech Orientation: Business must be tech-based or tech-enabled, using digital innovation as a key driver.

  6. Impact Alignment: Contributes toward at least one United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) such as poverty reduction, gender equality, decent work, climate action, or access to essential services.

 

📝 Application Procedure

  • Submit your application online through the official program portal (link to be announced on Innovation Village or Futuremakers websites).

  • Prepare to provide key information about your business, your entrepreneurial journey, and how your business aligns with the program’s goals.


📂 Required Documents:

  • Completed application form

  • Copy of business registration documents

  • Proof of MVP and market validation (sales reports, partnership letters, etc.)

  • Business pitch deck (recommended)


🗓️ Applications are open until 30th May 2025. Early submissions are highly encouraged as slots are limited and selection is competitive.


🗓️ Selected participants will be announced on 11th June 2025, and the program officially kicks off on 12th June 2025.
