Programme Overview

The G-DORM Project offers an interactive educational experience characterized by group work (GW) internships in collaboration with regional companies in Niigata and the Mekong Region. The program aims to foster global SciTech leaders capable of solving regional revitalization issues from an integrative standpoint.


Program Structure:

The program comprises required and elective courses:

  • Required Courses: Group Work (GW) internships totaling two months, focusing on project-based learning (PBL) conducted at industrial companies in Niigata to identify, analyze, and resolve issues related to the international roles of corporate activity.


  • Elective Courses: Lab work aligned with the student's specialization, specialized lectures related to their major, and cross-cultural studies, including Japanese language and culture courses.


To complete the program, students must earn at least four credits from required courses and four credits from elective courses.

 

Benefits and Financial Arrangements

  1. Financial Support: Eligible participants may receive a monthly stipend of up to 80,000 Japanese yen from JASSO, supporting expenses such as accommodation, meals, and other living costs.

  2. Accommodation: Participants will study at Ikarashi Campus and can apply for single-room apartments near the campus through the "Co-op Leased Apartments Supported by Niigata University" service. Monthly rent varies between 25,000 to 45,000 Japanese yen.

  3. Certificate: Students who complete the program will receive a certificate from Niigata University.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must be a Master's or Doctoral student currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student at one of the partner universities and maintain student status throughout the program.

  2. Possess a good academic record, equivalent to or higher than 2.30 points as per the designated calculation formula of JASSO.

  3. Have sufficient proficiency in English (speaking, listening, reading, and writing).

  4. Be able to obtain a passport and visa independently.

  5. Be in good physical and mental health.

  6. Demonstrate a positive attitude towards participating in all program activities and discussions.

  7. Agree to submit required reports and documents by specified deadlines.

  8. Obtain consent from a parent or guarantor for participation in the program.

  9. Be considerate of Japanese customs during the stay in Japan.
