GREEN-STEM Intra-Africa Mobility Scholarships [MSc and PhD] 2025

Applications are invited from suitable qualified candidates to apply for GREEN-STEM Intra-Africa Mobility project which will empower up to 92 young talents, students and staff to experience an intra-Africa mobility in the partner institution from short to long term Funded by the European Union.


The project which is part of the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, is a cross-regional mobility cooperation by a consortium made of University of Nairobi (Kenya), University of Lagos (Nigeria), University of Rwanda (Rwanda), University of Witwatersrand (South Africa) and, in Europe, University of Paris Science et Lettres (France).

It aims to address challenges such as low development, under-capacitated higher education systems, youth unemployment, and the sensitivity of carbonized economies to climate change impacts. The mission is to put African Universities at the forefront of sustainable and green development and empower their leadership to tackle climate change impacts through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).


In the current call, there will be 4 MSc scholarships per each partner university and 2 PhD scholarships per each partner university according to the conditions below.

 

Full Degree Scholarship Conditions (MSc)

Duration: The scholarship covers a 22-month period in an eligible Master’s degree program (see list here)


Funding type: Full tuition fees waiver


Monthly Allowance: Scholars will receive a monthly allowance of €890.


Additional Contributions: The scholarship covers application fees, visa, and insurance contributions.


Travel Costs: These are at the grantee’s expenses.


Number of Awards: There are 4 MSc scholarships expected per partner university in the current first call.

 

Full Degree Scholarship Conditions (PhD)


Duration: The scholarship covers a 36-month period in an eligible PhD degree program (see list here).


Funding type: Full tuition fees waiver


Monthly Allowance: Scholars will receive a monthly allowance of 1230€.


Additional Contributions: The scholarship covers application fees, visa, and insurance contributions.


Travel Costs: These are at the grantee’s expenses.


Number of Awards: There are 2 PhD scholarships expected per partner university in the current first call.

 

Eligibility

This call is only open to Women


Target Group 1: Women of African nationality and resident in an African country, registered /admitted in or having obtained a degree from one of the GREEN-STEM African partners.


Target Group 2: Women of African nationality and resident in an African country, registered /admitted in or having obtained a degree from another University which is not participating as partner but is established in Africa. This GREEN-STEM first call is restricted to TG2 from AFRETEC universities.

➢ Women with specific needs or assistance are welcome and will be supported during their mobility.


NOTE: SCHOLARSHIPS are only available when the HOST university (where you will study) is different from the HOME university (where you are studying or you have studied)
