Hainan University China Link Scholarship 2025-26

The China Link Scholarship is a pilot program initiated by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) in order to reinforce long-term research collaboration and two-way staff/student mobility between CSC’s overseas university partners and Chinese universities (list of partner universities can be found below), and it can support full-time students, faculty, and academic staff from other countries to undertake a period of non-degree study.

 

China Link Scholarship Program Overview

The China Link Scholarship Program is designed to foster cross-cultural academic exchanges between China and foreign nations, creating a platform for international collaboration. It welcomes outstanding international students and faculty to undertake research in various fields (excluding Chinese language study) at Hainan University.


• Program Duration: 1 to 12 months, with a start date no later than August 31, 2025.


• Languages: English or Chinese, depending on the specific program offered.


• Study/Research Fields: All disciplines other than Chinese language study.

China Link Scholarship Benefits

Recipients of the China Link Scholarship enjoy comprehensive support package including:


• Tuition Waiver: Covers all tuition fees for the duration of the program.


• On-Campus Accommodation: Free on-campus housing to provide a secure and convenient living arrangement.


• Medical Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance coverage during your stay in China.


• Monthly Stipend: Financial support for personal expenses:

  • General Scholars: CNY 3,000 per month

  • Senior Scholars: CNY 3,500 per month

 

Eligiblity Criteria

  1. Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China

  2. Be registered as a full-time student or employed as a full-time academic staff at CSC’s foreign partner universities by the time of application and throughout the proposed stay in China.

  3. Have received either the admission notice or the invitation letter issued by the Chinese host university. For a list of Chinese host universities, refer to this PDF file

  4. Language Proficiency:

    • For Chinese-taught programs, applicants need a minimum HSK Level 4 score of 180.

    • For English-taught programs, applicants must provide a TOEFL (560 paper-based or 78 internet-based) or IELTS score of 6.0. English-speaking applicants from native or official English-speaking countries are exempt from this requirement.

 

Application Process


To apply for the Hainan University China Link Scholarship, follow below steps carefully:


1). Online Application: Visit the Campus China Website and create an account and fill out your personal information.


2). Program Selection: Select “Program Category B” and enter Hainan University’s agency number: 10589.


3). Upload Required Documents:

  • Valid passport copy

  • Notarized highest diploma and transcripts

  • Language proficiency certificate (HSK, TOEFL, or IELTS if applicable)

  • Study plan (minimum 500 words in Chinese or English) for MS degree

  • Research Proposal for PhD degree

  • Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors

  • Physical Examination Form for Foreigners (valid for 6 months)

  • Non-criminal record report (issued within the past six months)


4). Submit Application: After filling in all required fields, submit your application and download the form.


Note: Ensure all documents are clear, authentic, and properly scanned. Submissions in languages other than Chinese or English must include notarized translations.
