Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) 2025 Overview
The Heidelberg Laureate Forum is designed to foster meaningful interactions between the next generation of researchers and laureates of the highest accolades in mathematics and computer science. Established in 2013 by the Klaus Tschira Stiftung, the HLF serves as a networking conference rather than a traditional academic event. The forum aims to inspire young researchers, provide mentorship opportunities, and create a collaborative atmosphere for exchanging ideas.
Programme Structure and Activities
Participants will experience a blend of scientific and social activities, including:
Lectures by laureates on subjects of their choosing, designed to spark engaging discussions.
Workshops and Master Classes for hands-on learning and collaboration.
Panel discussions on contemporary issues in mathematics and computer science.
Social events to encourage informal interactions among participants and laureates.
Outreach activities to broaden the forum's impact and connect with a wider audience.
Funding, Coverage and Benefits
1). Accommodation
A single hotel room (including breakfast) is provided for each participant from September 13–20, 2025. Hotels are within walking distance of the venue.
2). Meals
All meals during the forum, including breakfast at the hotel and lunches, dinners, and snacks at the venue, are covered.
3). Travel Grants
Travel costs are not automatically covered but can be reimbursed through an HLFF travel grant for those unable to secure funding from their institution or national agency.
Visa costs are also reimbursable under the travel grant.
4). Networking Opportunities
Connect with peers and global leaders in mathematics and computer science.
5). Certificate of Participation
All attendees receive a certificate recognizing their participation in the forum.
Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) 2025 Eligibility
Undergraduate/pre-Master’s: Students enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program without holding a master’s degree.
Graduate PhD: Students currently working towards a PhD in mathematics or computer science.
Postdoc: Researchers with a PhD earned within the past five years. (Extensions are granted for parents, with one additional year per child.)
Field of Study: Applicants must be studying or conducting research in mathematics, computer science, or closely related fields.
Language: English is the official language of the forum; proficiency in English is required.
Application Procedure

Submit your application via the official HLF portal during the application phase (November 11, 2024 – February 11, 2025).

Additionally, For graduate PhDs and postdocs:

3. Travel Grant Application:
If applicable, submit a travel grant application with a letter from your institution or funding agency during the registration phase.
4. Selection Process:
Applications are reviewed by international panels of experts appointed by the award-granting institutions (ACM, DNVA, IMU).
Top 100 candidates in each discipline are invited to attend.

Selected participants will be notified by the end of April 2025.
The forum is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at each academic level, meaning participants can only attend once as an undergraduate, once as a PhD student, and once as a postdoc.
