Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarship 2025 for Inian Students: ₹33,000 Scholarship, Full Guide


The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarship aims to assist post-graduate students in India who encounter financial challenges while pursuing their education. Eligible applicants must be under 35 years old, hold a First-Class Post-Graduate degree with a minimum of 60% marks, and be full-time Ph.D. scholars registered at a recognized Indian university. The scholarship provides a monthly maintenance allowance of INR 18,000, along with an additional INR 15,000 for study tours, books, and stationery expenses for up to two years.

Categories of Scholarships

The scholarships are available for Ph.D. study in India to the following two categories of students:

A. Indian Nationals

B. Nationals of other Asian countries

 

Areas of Specializations/Subjects

A candidate may apply for scholarship in any one of the following areas of specialization:

1. Indian History and Civilization

2. Sociology

3. Economics

4. Comparative Studies in Religion and Culture

5. Ecology and Environment

 

Scholarship Coverage and Value


1. Maintenance allowance including Tuition fee (Stipend) Rs.18,000/- per month

2. Contingent expenses for study tours within India, purchase of books, stationery, etc. Rs. 15,000/-per annum

 

Eligibility Conditions

At the time of submission of the application for scholarship, a candidate should:


1. Hold a FIRST Class Post-graduate degree with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in both graduate and post graduate levels.


2. Already be registered/admitted for Ph.D. degree with a recognized University/Institution in India. Those who have applied for registration and have not yet been registered at the time of submission of application are not eligible to apply.


3. Be a full-time Ph.D. Scholar.


4. Age Limit and Relaxation: Candidates should not be above 35 years of age on 1st October of the year of selection. A relaxation of up to 5 years will be provided to the candidates belonging to OBC-NCL (as per the Central List of OBC available on website: (www.ncbc.nic.in)

For /SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and to women applicants. A relaxation of up to 5 years will be provided to the candidates who have served in the armed forces subject to the length of service in armed forces up to 1st October of the year of selection. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed five years under any circumstances.

 

Mandatory Application Documents

The following documents should be securely attached seriatim to the Application Form:


  • A passport size photograph of the applicant to be pasted on the first page of the application form.

  • A synopsis of the proposed project as per the attached format.

  • Doctoral Monitoring Committee's report or Supervisor's report/recommendations.

  • Postal Order/Demand Draft for Rs.100/-, Candidates belonging to SC/ST are exempted from paying this application fee.

  • Ph.D. registration certificate.

  • Necessary certificates as proof of category issued by the Competent Authorities should be attached. (EWS certificate should be for the current year).

  • Self-attested photocopies of certificates and marksheets in support of your age and educational qualifications.

2) Fill out the application form and attach with your application all necessary documents


3) Send your application form along with all the required documents and a demand draft/ postal order.

The demand draft/ postal order should be drawn in favor of the “Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund” worth INR 100.

 

Application Deadline

An advertisement will be released towards the end of June every year and completed application forms together with all the necessary enclosures should reach the Administrative Secretary, Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, Teen Murti House, New Delhi- 110 011 on or before 31 August.
