JDS Scholarship 2025 | The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarships

Applications are now open for the JDS Scholarships 2025 to Study in Japan.

The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarships (JDS), funded by the Government of Japan and executed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), targets the highly capable young officials (mainly government) who are expected to engage in implementing social and economic development plans as a future leader.

JDS Fellows are also expected to contribute to the enhanced bilateral relations between their countries and Japan, with well-rounded knowledge of Japan.


JDS project offers full Funded Scholarships to pursue Master's Degree course and PhD Degree course at Japanese Universities in English. JDS Fellows will get a special opportunity for directly learning the forefront knowledge in the technological environment as well as for building the wide human networks.

Bangladesh, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Mozambique, Tajikistan, Cambodia, Pakistan, Timor-Leste, Kyrgyz Republic, Philippines, Laos, Kenya, Uzbekistan, Maldives, Senegal, Vietnam.

 

JDS Scholarship Benefits

The JDS program is a comprehensive package that offers scholars the following benefits:

  1. Tuition Fees: The scholarship covers the full tuition fees for the entire duration of the program at Japanese universities.

  2. Monthly Stipend: The stipend amount varies but typically ranges from ¥150,000 to ¥200,000 per month, depending on the specific program and location.

  3. Travel: Round-trip airfare from the home country to Japan and back is covered, along with travel insurance.

  4. Housing: A preparation allowance is provided upon arrival, and housing support is available throughout the scholarship period.

  5. Additional Allowances: Outfit allowance, book allowance, research support allowance, and seminar travel allowance are also provided to cover various expenses.

 

JDS Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria can vary slightly depending on your country in terms of age and the government entity you are working for, to each country there are special set of requirements. However, the general eligibility criteria for The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarships (JDS) 2025 are as follows:

  1. Citizenship: Must be a citizen of one of the eligible countries.

  2. Age: Typically between 22 and 40 years old at the time of application.

  3. Professional Background: Must be a young government official or a professional in a government-related field, with a strong commitment to public service.

  4. Educational Background: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized institution, with a strong academic record.

  5. Work Experience: Must have at least two years of full-time work experience in a relevant field.

  6. Language Proficiency: Must have a good command of English as the programmes are taught in English.

  7. Health: Must be in good health, both mentally and physically, to complete the program successfully.

  8. Commitment: Must demonstrate a commitment to contributing to the socio-economic development of their home country upon returning from Japan.

 

JDS Scholarship Application Procedure

To apply for the JDS Scholarships follow below steps:

1). Pick your country: first need to navigate to the JDS main page and choose your respective country to start the application.

📝 NOTE: Applications from some countries are already closed and it is still open for some other countries (On the main page you will see a notification next to each country if applications are open or close).


2). Application Information: Carefully read all information about the application information associated with your country including eligibility, selection procedures, research plan guidelines, Math Tests guid etc.


3). Proceed with your application: After familiarising yourself with all information, click on the apply button and you'll need to do the following:

• Step 1: Download the Application Guideline and Application Documents

A Download password will be required - fill out a password request form by clicking "Download" button, then a password to download documents will be appeared on your screen after filling a specific form.

The application documents you'll download are:

  • Application Guideline

  • Short Essays

  • Reference Letter

  • Research Plan


• Step 2: Prepare the required documents

Refer to Application Guidelines, and make sure to prepare all the required documents in appropriate file format.


• Step 3: Access the Online Application System

Complete your application by filling out the necessary information and uploading the required documents.


• Step 4: Submit your application and Receive an E-mail

Once you submit your application, you will Receive an E-mail confirming that your application has been successfully submitted.
