JNCASR Summer Research Fellowship Programme (SRFP) 2025

Applications are now open for The Summer Research Fellowship Programme (SRFP); a flagship initiative of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), introduced in 1991. This programme offers science and engineering students in India at the bachelor's and master's level the opportunity to gain hands-on research experience at reputable institutes across India. The programme spans two months and focuses on various scientific disciplines, including Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Engineering. Programme Overview

The Summer Research Fellowship Programme at JNCASR aims to inspire students towards scientific research by providing them with practical training in their areas of interest. Since its inception, the programme has benefitted 2,639 students, many of whom have gone on to pursue successful careers in science and engineering, both in India and abroad. The programme is highly acclaimed and valued by students for the invaluable research experience it offers during the early stages of their education.

  1. Life Sciences: Includes fields like molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, and neurobiology.

  2. Chemical Sciences: Encompasses areas such as organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, and nanomaterials.

  3. Chemical Biology: Focuses on diagnostics, drug delivery, medicinal chemistry, and bioorganic chemistry.

  4. Physical Sciences: Covers condensed matter theory, semiconductor physics, biophysics, and nano physics.

  5. Materials Sciences: Involves nanoscience, quantum materials, photonic materials, and energy materials.

  6. Engineering Sciences: Includes computational fluid dynamics, microfluidics, geophysical fluid dynamics, and more

 

Fellowship Benefits

  • Fellowship of Rs. 10,000/- per month

  • Second sleeper train fare by the shortest route from college/residence to JNCASR and back

 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Education: Students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate programmes in Science, Engineering, Technology, Medicine, or Veterinary Sciences.

  2. General Pre-requisite: Students must have secured not less than 65% in core/main subjects and in aggregate in 10th and 12th standard or equivalent examinations, and not less than first class in the previous semesters of the qualifying degree.

• Life Sciences: I and II years of B.Sc., I, II, III years of B.S./B.E./B.Tech., I year of M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech., I-IV year of Int. M.Sc./BS-MS, I-III year of MBBS/BVSc.


• Chemical Sciences: I-IV years of BS-MS/Int. M.Sc., I year of M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech.


• Chemical Biology: I and II years of B.Sc., I, II, III years of B.S./B.E./B.Tech., I year of M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech., I-IV year of Int. M.Sc./BS-MS, I-III year of MBBS/BVSc.


• Physical Sciences: I and II years of B.Sc., I-III years of B.S./B.E./B.Tech., I year of M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech., I-IV years of Int. M.Sc.


• Materials Science: I-IV years of BS-MS/Int. M.Sc., I year of M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech.


• Engineering Sciences: I-III years of B.S./B.E./B.Tech., I year of M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech., I-IV years of Int. M.Sc./BS-MS.
