Updated: Dec 5

If you are a passionate female postdoctoral researcher looking to make significant strides in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), the L’Oréal USA For Women in Science Award is the perfect opportunity for you. This prestigious program, part of the global L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Fellowships, offers substantial support to exceptional women scientists, helping them advance their research projects and careers while promoting gender equality in science. This article will provide you with all essential details about this exciting opportunity for women in STEM!

Programme Overview

The L’Oréal USA For Women in Science Award 2025 is dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women scientists who are making significant contributions to their fields. The program awards five outstanding female postdoctoral researchers annually with grants to support their research projects and career advancement. Each awardee receives funding to cover research expenses, including tuition fees, attendance at meetings and conferences, hiring support staff, laboratory supplies, publication costs, and more.

L’Oréal USA For Women in Science Award Value

Each winner of the L’Oréal USA For Women in Science Award will receive a grant of $100,000.

The grant is paid in two installments: the first half at the award ceremony and the remaining balance after submitting an interim status report six months later.

Funding Guidelines:

  • The funding is intended to support the candidate's research project and provide career enhancement. Suggested uses of the funding include: tuition fees, attendance at meetings and conferences, laboratory supplies, publication costs, computer and technical support, equipment, and instruments. International travel is allowed. Indirect or fringe costs (including insurance and overhead) are not allowed.

  • Applicants may allocate up to 10% of their total budget estimate for community service or outreach projects beyond the scope of their proposed research plan (e.g. hosting a science workshop for K-12 students with a local outreach organization).

  • Salaries for technicians and students may be proposed, as long as the candidate can justify that these individuals will directly support the candidate's research.

  • A candidate may use the funding to cover her salary if she can justify why it is not already being covered by her PI or lab.
