London School of Economics (LSE) is accepting applications for their scholarships under the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme (CSSS).
For the 2025/26 academic year LSE has four awards to support the full time study on one of the six eligible programmes. Details in this article.
Commonwealth Shared Scholarships
The Commonwealth Shared Scholarships (CSS) are prestigious awards aimed at supporting talented students from developing Commonwealth countries to pursue Master's degree studies in the UK. These scholarships are designed to foster sustainable development by enabling students to gain the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to their home countries' growth. The program is jointly funded by the UK government's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and UK universities.
Commonwealth Shared Scholarships value at LSE
The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship is a fully Funded Master's degree scholarship that covers:
The full tuition fees
Maintenance monthly for 12 months. For 2024/25, the maintenance allowance was £20,280 for 12 months.
Up to £225 to cover master's thesis costs .
A one-off £200 study travel grant
The cost of up to 10 kilograms of accompanied excess baggage is also available for scholars returning home at the end of their awards.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship at London School of Economics, applicants must meet below requirements:
Are nationals of (or permanently domiciled in) an eligible Commonwealth developing country and not at present living or studying in a developed country
Hold a first degree at either first class or upper second class level;
Have not undertaken studies lasting one year or more in a developed country;
Are themselves, or through their families, unable to pay to study in the United Kingdom;
Will return to their home country as soon as their award ends.
Sufficiently fluent in written and oral English to pursue your studies at LSE immediately

Application Procedure
To apply for a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship for programmes beginning in September 2025, you will need to follow these steps:
1. Submit your application for admission to one of the eligible programmes at LSE.
2. Submit your application to for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship via the web page by 12 December 2024.
3. submit your LSE Graduate Financial Support Application via the LSE Graduate Applicant Portal by 17 February 2025. This will also allow you to be considered for other LSE Scholarships you may be eligible for.
4. Receive an offer of a place (conditional or unconditional)
5. Nominated candidates will be emailed around April/May 2025. Please ensure that our domain name - lse.ac.uk - is added to your safe senders list and routinely check your junk/spam folders.
Your LSE Graduate Financial Support Application will also be considered for LSE scholarships. The outcome to your Graduate Support Scheme application will be displayed after you have received an offer. Successful applicants selected for other LSE Scholarships or awards will be notified by the end of July 2025.
