Attention Scholars! The most anticipated Malaysian International scholarship (MIS) is now open for the Academic year 2024-2025 intake.


Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) is an initiative by the Malaysian Government to attract brilliant minds from around the world to pursue postgraduate studies in Malaysia.

Interested international graduates with outstanding academic and co-curricular backgrounds are welcome to apply for this scholarship to further their studies in leading Malaysian universities and higher education institutions with the opportunity to enjoy Malaysian hospitality and a world-class higher education experience.

Malaysian International Scholarship summary


Eligibility: The scholarship is open to citizens of various countries - See the list of Recipient Countries of MIS 2024 on this PDF Document.


Study Levels: Master's, PhD


Funding: Fully-Funded+Monthly Stipend


Host Institutions: All Malaysian 20 public universities and 4 selected private universities as listed in this PDF Document are supported under MIS


• Duration

  • Master’s degree: maximum of 24 months

  • Doctorate degree: maximum of 36 months


Application Deadline: 26th June 2024

 

Scholarship Coverage

The Malaysian International Scholarship is fully funded scholarship. Successful applicants will have their tuition fees covered and will receive a

monthly living allowance of RM1,500.00 per month throughout the whole study period or sponsorship duration (whichever comes first).

 

Areas of Studies

Applicants can apply for any accredited course offered by the universities. However, priority is given to courses in the following areas of study:


  • Arts and Humanities

  • Social Sciences, Journalism and Information

  • Business, Administration and Law

  • Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics

  • Information and Communication Technologies

  • Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction

  • Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Veterinary

  • Health and Welfare (not including medicine, nursing and pharmacy)

 

Eligibility Criteria and Qualifications

Applicants must fulfill the following criteria for their applications to be considered further:


1). Is not more than 40 or 45 years old at the time of application for the master's and PhD levels, respectively.


2). Possessing good academic qualifications:

  • Master’s applicants: obtaining a CGPA of 3.0 or 2nd Class Upper (Honours) or higher at the bachelor’s degree level.

  • For PhD applicants: obtaining a CGPA of 3.0 or excellent results at the Masters level in courses related to the intended study program


3). Mastering good proficiency in the English language:

  • Obtaining an IELTS band 6.0 or higher; or

  • Obtaining a total score of 550 or higher in the TOEFL paper- based test; or

  • Has obtained previous degree(s) with English as the medium of instruction.


4). Submitting a written research proposal with a minimum of 1,000 words that is relevant to the intended field of studies (for Masters by Research and PhD applicants only)

 

Application Documents

Applicants are required to submit the following documents (In English or with certified translation) to the online application system (scanned and saved in PDF format) to complete their application:


  1. A certified copy of the passport (with a minimum validity of 6 months);

  2. Certified copy of academic Transcripts of undergraduate studies (in addition to the master's degree transcript for PhD applicants)

  3. Certified official document issued by the applicant's alma mater describing the institution's grade system if the applicant's transcript does not include information on CGPA, marks or score percentile.

  4. A certified copy of the English proficiency test result (IELTS/TOEFL) or official letter from the previous institution declaring English as the medium of instruction used for the obtained degree(s).

  5. Letter of Recommendation from two (2) referees;

  6. Admission Letter to Malaysian universities (not mandatory)

  7. Curriculum Vitae

  8. Research Proposal (for Masters by Research and PhD applicants only)

 

How do I apply for MIS?

Interested candidates can apply for MIS ONLINE through Ministry of Higher Education’s portal:


After registering for the system, applicants need to fill out the required information and submit the related documents. This system will be used throughout the application and

selection processes, and applicants may be asked to log back in at various points during the process to receive updates on the application status or to submit documents.
