Scholarship Benefits

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program covers:

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the scholarship must meet the following conditions:

  1. Application: The applicant must have applied for admission to Makerere University's main campus under the private sponsorship scheme for the academic year 2025/2026 for a prioritised program

  2. Nationality: Be a Ugandan national, a refugee, an internally displaced person, or an international student from Africa.

  3. For Undergraduate Students: Have completed undergraduate studies in an African country OR Hold second class/credit diploma from any recognized institution, OR Must have passed the mature age entry of Makerere University

  4. Financial Need: Demonstrate financial hardship and not hold any other scholarships.

  5. Prior Education: The Applicant should not have completed any undergraduate degree Programme for Undergraduate applicants

  6. Potential: Have shown leadership potential or participated in community service.

  7. Age: For undergraduate; The Applicant should be 28 years old or younger at the time of the application deadline. For Master's applicants Under 35.

  8. Special Categories: Applicants in the Refugee or Persons with Disabilities categories should be 32 years old or younger at the time of the application deadline.
