UGRIP offers exposure to various AI research domains, including:

  • Computer Vision: Projects may involve live camera detection (e.g., anomaly detection such as car accidents, crowd counting, pedestrian detection), severe weather condition tracking, camouflaged object detection, and tumor detection.

  • Machine Learning: Focus on developing more accurate and efficient AI models by delving into algorithms, data, and statistical methods.

  • Natural Language Processing (NLP): Research topics include fake news detection, chatbot applications and limitations, machine translation, and speech recognition.

 

MBZUAI UGRIP 2025 Eligibility Criteria

  • Study Level: Undergraduate students in their third/fourth year of STEM-related majors, including those in Australian-style Honours degrees.

  • Academic Performance: Minimum CGPA of 3.5/4.0 or equivalent.

  • Enrollment Status: Applicants should be enrolled in their final semester after participating in the internship.

  • English Proficiency: Valid proficiency test scores, such as TOEFL iBT (minimum score of 90), IELTS Academic (minimum overall score of 6.5), or EmSAT English (minimum score of 1550). Alternatively, a formal letter from the applicant’s university confirming that English is the primary language of instruction is acceptable.

  1. Enrollment Letter: An official letter from the university registrar confirming enrollment status, admission date, program duration, and expected graduation date.

  2. Academic Transcript: A detailed transcript including all registered courses from the first to the current semester, with course names, grades, and credit hours, duly signed and stamped.

  3. Passport Copy: A colored copy of a valid passport (valid for at least one year).

  4. Statement of Purpose: A comprehensive essay outlining motivation for applying, relevant background, standout achievements, goals as a prospective UGRIP participant, and preferred career path.
