MTN Foundation Scholarship Summary

MTN Foundation Scholarships Overview

The MTN Foundation Scholarships are designed to provide financial assistance to exceptional students, enabling them to pursue their academic goals without financial constraints. The program encompasses three categories:


1. MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship (MTNF STS):

Established in 2010, this scholarship is open to 300-level students studying science and technology-related courses. Each year, 300 students are awarded N300,000 annually until graduation, provided they meet the required academic standards.


2. MTN Foundation Scholarship for Blind Students (MTNF SBS):

Initiated in 2012, this scholarship supports 200 and 300-level blind students across all courses. Starting in 2024, the number of beneficiaries increased from 60 to 100, with each receiving N300,000 annually until graduation, contingent upon maintaining the required academic standards.


3. MTN Foundation Top 10 UTME Scholarship:

This category recognizes the top 10 candidates with the highest scores in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), providing them with scholarships to support their tertiary education.

 

MTN Foundation Scholarship Benefits

  • Financial Support: Beneficiaries receive N300,000 annually, which covers tuition fees, book allowances, and living stipends.

  • Renewable Award: The scholarship is awarded annually until graduation, provided recipients maintain the required academic performance.

  • Recognition: Scholars gain national recognition for their academic excellence, enhancing their academic and professional profiles.

 

Eligibility Criteria

1. Institution of Study:

  • Must be a full-time student in a Nigerian public tertiary institution (university, polytechnic, or college of education).


2. Course of Study

  • MTNF STS: 300-level students pursuing science and technology-related courses.

  • MTNF SBS 200 and 300-level blind students enrolled in any course. For blind students studying Law (a 5-year course), only those in 300 level are eligible.


3. Level of Study:

  • MTNF STS: Students who have completed their second semester 200-level examinations and are progressing to 300 level, as well as current 300-level students.

  • MTNF SBS: 200 and 300-level blind students.


3. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA):


For MTNF STS:

  • Public Universities and Colleges of Education: Minimum CGPA of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (Second Class Upper).

  • Public Polytechnics: Minimum CGPA of 3.0 (Upper Credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) program.


For MTNF SBS:

  • Universities or Colleges of Education: Minimum CGPA of 2.5.

  • Public Polytechnics: Minimum CGPA of 2.0 from the OND program and must have secured admission into the HND program.

 

Application Procedure

1. Online Application:

  • Visit the official MTN Foundation Scholarship application portal

  • Select the appropriate scholarship category

  • Complete the online application form with accurate personal and academic information.

  • Upload a recent passport photograph and other required documents.

  • Review your application thoroughly before submission.


2. Required Documents:

  • Valid student identification card.

  • Admission letter from your institution.

  • Recent passport photograph.

  • O'Level result(s).

  • Evidence of CGPA (academic transcript or result statement).


Additional Information:

  • Application Deadline: Ensure your application is submitted on or before April 25, 2025.

  • Selection Process: Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo an assessment test.
