Available Internship Positions
1. Sample Processing Lab Intern:
The Sample Processing Lab is seeking an intern to optimize high-throughput RNA and DNA isolation procedures for murine tissues. This position focuses on improving protocols for applications like transcriptomics and molecular diagnostics. Interns will work under the guidance of mentors and have opportunities to present their findings.
2. Curation Team Intern:
The Curation Team is looking for an intern to enhance ‘omics assay metadata by aligning it with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles. The intern will analyze metadata standards, implement best practices, and contribute to improving data usability for applications like machine learning and AI. There will also be opportunities to present findings to the OSDR team.
3. Data Processing Team Intern:
The Data Processing Team is in need of an intern to design a bioinformatics pipeline for analyzing hyperspectral imaging data from space biology experiments. With mentor guidance, the intern will evaluate open-source tools like pyHAT, develop data processing workflows and visualizations, and contribute to understanding plant adaptations in extreme environments, including space.
4. Science and Curation Teams Intern:
The Science and Curation Teams are seeking an intern to curate and ingest cardiovascular datasets from the SOLSTICE citizen science project into the OSDR database. The intern will develop assay metadata standards, curate the data for comparison and meta-analysis, and submit it through the data portal, with opportunities to present their findings to the OSDR team.
