NTU-SEARCA Joint Scholarship 2025 Overview

Established in the academic year 2020-2021 through a partnership between National Taiwan University (NTU) and the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), the NTU-SEARCA Joint Scholarship aims to cultivate agricultural professionals, foster academic excellence, and advance research and development in agriculture across Southeast Asia.


Eligible Study Programs and Countries

As of the academic year 2025-2026, the scholarship supports the following master's programs at NTU:


1. Master's Program in Global Agriculture Technology and Genomic Science (Global ATGS)

This interdisciplinary program focuses on innovative technologies and strategies to enhance agricultural efficiency, including genome science, breeding technology, smart farming, plant factories, and food science.


2. Master's Program in Biodiversity (MPB)

Combining humanities, social sciences, and environmental sustainability, this program aims to produce graduates who meet global conservation standards and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


3. MS Program in Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience (MDR3)

This program offers training in risk assessment, climate change adaptation, contingency planning, and resilience, preparing industry leaders to invest in sustainable practices.


Research Focus

Applicants for this scholarship must focus their research to be aligned with SEARCA's overarching theme of Accelerating Transformation Through Agricultural Innovation (ATTAIN), focusing on priority areas such as:


  • Agri-Business Models for Increased Productivity and Income

  • Food and Nutrition Security

  • Transformational Leadership for Agricultural and Rural Development (ARD)

  • Gender and Youth Engagement in ARD

  • Enhanced ARD towards Climate Resilience

  • EcoHealth/One Health Applications to ARD


Eligible Countries

The NTU-SEARCA Joint Scholarship is available to the Nationals of SEAMEO member countries, including: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam.

 

Scholarship Coverage

Recipients of the NTU-SEARCA Joint Scholarship are entitled to:

  1. Tuition and Other Fees: Full coverage of tuition and associated academic fees.

  2. Travel Allowance: Provision for international airfare to and from Taiwan.

  3. Book and Supplies Allowance: Financial support for necessary academic materials.

  4. Health Insurance: Comprehensive health coverage during the study period.

  5. Living Allowance: Stipend to cover food, lodging, and incidental expenses.

 

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Be nationals of SEAMEO member countries.

  2. Be no more than 40 years of age at the time of application.

  3. Have planned research aligned with SEARCA's overarching theme of Accelerating Transformation Through Agricultural Innovation (ATTAIN)

 

Application Procedure

Applicants must complete the online NTU-SEARCA Joint Scholarship Application Form and upload the following required documents in English:


  1. Original or certified true copy of Bachelor of Science (BS) transcripts

  2. Original or certified true copy of BS diploma

  3. Certificate of employment (if employed).

  4. Two accomplished recommendation forms.

  5. Brief description of the planned research for the thesis, aligned with SEARCA's ATTAIN priority areas mentioned above.

  6. Two passport-size photos.

  7. Certification from a medical doctor confirming good physical and mental health, and fitness to undertake graduate studies.
