NHRC Winter Internship Programme Summary

The NHRC Winter Internship Programme (WIP) is designed for bright, dedicated students who are in their second or third year of a three-year degree course, law students in their fourth or fifth year of a five-year integrated BA/BBA.LLB program, or postgraduate students pursuing LL.M. or equivalent courses. The internship offers a generous stipend of Rs. 12,000 for successful completion and provides immersive learning experiences under the mentorship of NHRC experts.

Course Structure

  1. Classroom Sessions: Engage in around 70-75 sessions on various human rights topics.

  2. Interaction with NHRC Members: Gain insights from the Hon'ble Chairperson and Members.

  3. Project Work: Contribute to a human rights-related project.

  4. State Presentations: Present the human rights scenario of your state.

  5. Book Reviews: Review selected books from the NHRC library.

  6. Film Discussions: Discuss films on relevant human rights issues.

  7. Field Visits: Visit police stations, jails, NGOs, and other relevant institutions.

 

NHRC WIP Benefits

💲💴 Awards

  • An amount of Rs.15,000/-, Rs. 10,000/-, and Rs.5,000/- will be given as prize money for interns who are placed Ist, 2nd, and 3rd respectively for the Group Research Project.

  • The five interns with the highest marks for the Book Review will be rewarded in the form of books priced not higher than Rs.1,000/- each.

  • The top three interns from the Declamation contest will be rewarded in the form of books priced not higher than Rs.1,000/- each.

 

NHRC WIP Eligibility and Requirements

1. Academic Stage:

  • Undergraduates in their second or third year of a three-year degree course,

  • Law students in their fourth or fifth year of a five-year integrated BA/BBA.LLB program, or;

  • Students pursuing LL.M.

  • Students pursuing PG Diploma in Human Rights, MA in Human Rights, PG students of Political Science, Sociology, Social Work (MSW), Criminology, Public Administration, Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce, Anthropology, Mass Communication, International Relations and any of the discipline of Social Sciences would be considered with preference to students pursuing their final year


2. Minimum Academic Requirements:

Achieved 65% marks in Class XII and successfully completed at least one year of college.


3. Age Requirements:

The applicant should not be more than 28 years of age as on 01.11.2024.


5. Research Interest:

A compelling write-up showcasing your interest in human rights research.


6. Letter of Recommendation (LOR):

Recommendation from your faculty or institution is mandatory.

 

Application Process and Timelines

1. Visit the Official NHRC Website:

Go to the internship section on the National Human Rights Commission, India website to access the application form and brochure.


2. Prepare Your Documents:

  • Passport size photo in jpeg format

  • Certificate of X class

  • Certificate and mark sheet of XII class

  • Certificate and mark sheet of Graduation (if completed)

  • Mark sheet of last exam

  • I-Card of currently pursuing course of present institution.

  • Recommendation letter of Principal/ Dean/ HoD from the institution where presently pursuing the course.


3. Submit Your Application:

Fill out the online application form and upload the required documents.
