🎓 PTDF Scholarship Overview

The PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme is designed to provide Nigerian students with the opportunity to study at world-class institutions, thereby enhancing their expertise in the oil and gas sector. The scholarship is available for specific programs at selected partner universities in the UK, Germany, France, Malaysia, and at the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK) in Nigeria.

  • PhD Programs: Conducted as split-site programs between CPESK in Nigeria and partner universities in the UK, allowing scholars to conduct research in both locations.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

For MSc Applicants:

  • Minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in first degree or Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience

  • Completion of the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)

  • Computer literacy

  • Possession of 5 O/level credits, including English Language and Mathematics

  • Submission of a statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) detailing the relevance of the proposed study to the oil and gas industry and its expected impact on national development

  • Valid National Identity Number (NIN) with verification (NIMC verification charges apply)


For PhD Applicants:

  • Completion of the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)

  • Computer literacy

  • Possession of 5 O/level credits, including English Language and Mathematics

  • Minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in first degree and a good postgraduate degree

  • Submission of a research proposal (maximum five pages) relevant to the oil and gas industry, including topic, introduction, objectives, methodology, and mode of data collection

  • Valid National Identity Number (NIN) with verification (NIMC verification charges apply)

  • Lecturers must provide a letter from their Vice Chancellors confirming they are not recipients of any other scholarships

 

📝 Application Procedure

  1. Visit the PTDF Scholarship Portal

  2. Create an applicant account or log in with an existing account

  3. Complete the online application form with accurate information

  4. Upload scanned copies of required documents

  5. Submit the application before the deadline (


📂 Required Documents:

  • First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result

  • NYSC discharge certificate

  • WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results with PINs for verification

  • Recent passport photograph

  • Local Government Identification Letter

  • Master’s Degree Certificate (for PhD applicants only)

  • Evidence of membership in professional associations


ℹ️ Additional Information

  • Applicants must ensure that their proposed course of study aligns with PTDF's mandate and is relevant to the oil and gas industry.

  • Candidates with multiple applications will be automatically disqualified.

  • Previous beneficiaries of PTDF scholarships in the same category (MSc/PhD) are ineligible to apply again for the same or lower category.

  • Applicants who are beneficiaries of other scholarships from similar organizations are not eligible to apply.

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview and must present their academic transcripts during the interview.
