Applications are now open for the Planet Reimagined New Futures Fellowship 2025. If you are a current or recent undergraduate or graduate student passionate about environmental sustainability and climate justice, this fellowship offers a unique opportunity to conduct action research on the impact of river delta deterioration on young people. Fellows will work in a virtual global team, receive professional mentorship, and engage in hands-on storytelling and advocacy to influence climate policies.

Fellowship Overview

Planet Reimagined is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to creating fair solutions for people and the planet. The organization integrates research, advocacy, and media engagement to mobilize climate action. Its Action Research model trains future climate leaders while leveraging storytelling and digital media to drive policy change.


The Planet Reimagined New Futures Fellowship focuses on young people in river delta communities—regions critical to global food security and biodiversity but increasingly vulnerable to climate change. The 2025 fellowship will explore the impact of river delta degradation on youth livelihoods, education, health, and local economies, with case studies on the Mississippi, Mekong, and Danube River Deltas.


Program Structure and Objectives

  • Fellows work in a global team under professional supervision and receive hands-on training in advocacy, storytelling, and public communication.

  • Research focuses on the socio-economic and environmental impacts of river delta degradation on youth communities.

  • Fellows engage with local organizations and community members in their respective delta regions.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Fellows must have background knowledge or interest in their designated river delta region.

  2. Preference for Mississippi Delta applicants who currently or previously lived in the region.

  3. Danube and Mekong Delta applicants must be fluent in Romanian and Vietnamese, respectively.

  4. All fellows must be fluent in English (primary language of the fellowship).

  5. Applicants must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program.

  6. Applicants must have reliable internet access and flexibility to work across global time zones.

  7. Must commit full-time to the fellowship and be available for scheduled training, research, and deadlines.

 

Application Procedure

1. Online Application Submission:

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis but must be submitted by February 9, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST. Interested qualified candidates can submit their applications online by filling the online application form.

  • Statement of interest outlining commitment to climate advocacy and action research

  • Proof of enrollment or recent graduation (if applicable)


3. Selection Process:

  • Applications are reviewed for eligibility, background knowledge, and potential impact.

  • Selection is finalized based on research skills, advocacy potential, and alignment with program goals.
