Scholarship Overview

The Save the Elephants Master’s Scholarship aims to empower young conservationists by offering full funding for MSc studies at Karatina University. Students will study under the Department of Natural Resources Management or Environmental Science and be mentored by distinguished scientists, including an advisor from Save the Elephants (STE). The program encourages collaboration with supervisors from STE and Karatina University to develop impactful research projects.

 

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship ensures students can focus on their education and research by covering:

  1. Full tuition fees and research costs.

  2. Provision of a standard computer and any required specialized software.

  3. Monthly living stipend to cover basic expenses.

  4. Basic medical insurance arranged by STE.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must be a Kenyan national under 35 years old as of September 1, 2025.

  2. Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from a recognized university, with first or second-class upper division.

  3. At least two years of experience in a conservation organization or department (voluntary internships count).

  4. Unconditional MSc admission letter from Karatina University.

  5. A one-page research concept note (optional but encouraged).

 

Application Procedure

To apply for the scholarship, follow these steps:

1. Prepare Your Application:

  • Write an application letter addressed to “The Research Fund Administrator, Save the Elephants.”

  • Create a detailed CV including contact details for three referees (at least one academic).

  • Gather scanned copies of your degree certificates and transcripts.

  • Secure your MSc admission letter or formal confirmation of eligibility from Karatina University.

2. Combine Documents:

Merge all required documents in order into a single PDF file named with your full name.


3. Email Submission:
