Government of Austria Scholarship 2025 Overview

This scholarship is available to students from all countries except Austria and is specifically designed for Master's studies in International Relations. It includes a monthly stipend, health insurance assistance, and potential accommodation and travel allowances. With a duration of 10 months, it provides substantial support to help you achieve your academic goals.

 

Scholarship Benefits

The Scholarship of the Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Austria offers several benefits:

  • Monthly Stipend: Recipients receive a monthly scholarship instalment of €1,050.

  • Health Insurance: Assistance in obtaining health insurance accepted by Austrian authorities, with costs ranging from €55 to €200 per month.

  • Accommodation: Option to book accommodation through the OeAD Housing office, with monthly costs between €300 and €800, plus an administrative fee of €21 per month.

  • Travel Costs: Travel allowance for applicants from non-EU, non-EFTA, and non-OECD countries, based on the country of origin.

 

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Country of Origin: Open to students from all countries except Austria.

  • Target Group: Graduates and postgraduates in the field of Social Sciences, specifically International Relations.

- **Specific Conditions**:

  • Descendants of forced labourers under the Nazi regime.

  • Individuals from countries heavily impacted by the Nazi regime.

- **Academic Requirements**:

  • Must be applying for Master's degree programs in International Relations at the Diplomatic Academy (DA) or the Central European University (CEU).

  • Graduation must not have occurred in Austria.

  • No prior academic work in Austria in the six months preceding the grant.

  • Age Limit: Applicants must be born on or after May 15, 1989 (35 years old or younger).

 

Application Process and Timelines

The application process involves several steps:


1. Online Application:

Complete the online form at (www.scholarships.at), including a CV and a scanned copy of your passport showing your name and picture.


2. Recommendation Letters:

Provide two letters of recommendation, detailing the necessity of the stay in Austria and the applicant's scientific qualifications.


3. Confirmation of Admission:

Submit confirmation of admission for a Master's degree program in International Relations from either the Diplomatic Academy (DA) or the Central European University (CEU).


5. Additional Documents for Descendants of Forced Labourers

Provide necessary documentation from the Austrian or German foundations related to forced labourer history.
