About SDSN Youth

SDSN Youth is a global initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, founded in 2015 by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. With a presence in over 85 countries and nearly 1,000 organizational partners, SDSN Youth empowers young leaders with the tools and resources to address global challenges and build a sustainable future.

 

Local Pathways Fellowship (LPF) Overview

The Local Pathways Fellowship is an initiative by SDSN Youth, launched in 2016, to advance the localization of the UN’s 2030 Agenda. With a focus on Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, the fellowship empowers participants to develop innovative solutions that transform urban areas into inclusive, resilient, and sustainable communities.


Participants engage in an immersive online program that includes mentorship from global experts, peer-to-peer collaboration, and access to cutting-edge resources. Fellows implement localized solutions, ranging from grassroots initiatives to policy reforms, while contributing to a global network of changemakers committed to sustainable urban transformation.

The 2024 cohort included 103 fellows from 85 cities worldwide, highlighting the program’s diverse and global impact.

 

Fellowship Benefits

As a Local Pathways Fellow, you will receive:

  1. Training and Development: Access to an online course tailored to urban sustainability and SDG localization.

  2. Mentorship: Guidance from global experts in sustainable development and urban planning.

Local Pathways Fellowship (LPF) Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be aged 18-30, including students and early-career professionals.

  2. Have at least one year of academic or professional experience in fields such as urban planning, advocacy, or community initiatives.

  3. Propose a well-defined project or initiative aligned with SDG 11.

  4. Be able to commit 4-6 hours per week from February to November 2025.
