Seoul National University (SNU) Graduate Scholarship for Foreign Students (GSFS) - Spring 2025

Seoul National University (SNU) is delighted to announce the opening of applications for the Graduate Scholarship for Foreign Students (GSFS) for the Spring 2025 semester.

The GSFS is a prestigious opportunity for newly-admitted international graduate students (Master's or PhD) who aspire to pursue their studies at Seoul National University (SNU). This esteemed scholarship offers a tuition fee waiver for up to four semesters and provides a monthly stipend for a specified duration.

Scholarship Benefits

The GSFS program is a fully funded scholarship that provides awardees with the following:


1). Full Tuition Fees Waiver

Recipients of this scholarship will receive full waiver of their tuition fee(except the application fee of KRW 90,000, which must be paid during online admission application) up to 2 academic years (4 semesters).

The recipient must maintain an average grade point of 3.0/4.3 and above in order to sustain the scholarship (Assessment will be done at the end of each semester).


2). Monthly Stipends


For Masters: at least KRW 500,000/1 year

For PhD: at least KRW 500,000/2 years


3). Other Assistance

The OIA (office of international affairs) will provide GSFS students with the following additional assistance:

  • Issuance of Certificate of Admission and Information Guide

  • Registration Management

 

Eligibility

To be considered for the Graduate Scholarship for Foreign Students (GSFS), applicants must

meet ALL of the following criteria:


1). Nationality: The applicant and both of their parents must not hold Korean nationality.


2). Educational Background: The applicant must have completed their entire education outside of Korea. This means all schooling equivalent to Korean education from the first year of elementary school through to the final year of a bachelor's program must have been undertaken in countries other than Korea.


3). Academic Qualifications: The applicant must hold an appropriate academic degree (or its

recognized equivalent) from an accredited institution outside Korea, as follows:

For Master's or Combined Master's & Doctoral Programs: A bachelor's degree or higher.

For Doctoral Programs: A master's degree or higher


4). Program Selection: The applicant must apply to one of the designated colleges or schools

participating in the GSFS Program for the Spring 2025 intake. (Please refer to the list of participating colleges/schools provided elsewhere in this PDF FILE.)


5). Admission to SNU: The applicant must not only apply but also be successfully admitted to Seoul National University for the Spring 2025 semester.

 

Application Procedure

Candidates who wish to receive GSFS should apply for admission at SNU. During online

application, the candidate MUST apply for the scholarship at the same time. So, the application process goes as follows:


Step 1: Create an account at the SNU website on this online application portal .


Step 2: Apply for admission and SNU, and During online application, the candidate MUST apply for the scholarship at the same time.

Application timeline and deadline dates


• Application for Admission (Scholarship Application): Apply By July 11th (Thurs.), 2024


• Announcement of Admissions Decision: November 22nd, 2024


• Notification of GSFS Results: Late Nov. 2024


• Registration Period: January ~ February 2025
