Slippery Rock University available Scholarships (Full List)

Slippery Rock University (SRU) , Pennsylvania, USA, offers numerous scholarships for their enrolled students that are based on diverse criteria specific to each scholarship including academic record, talent, place of residence and major. SRU awards approximately 2 million dollars in scholarships annually to the incoming freshman class.

In this article we provide you with a list of most prominent scholarships offered by SRU with a brief description.

 

1). SRU Merit and Achievement Scholarships: Scholarships are offered to a number of the highest ranking applicants for admission to SRU. Consideration will be given to first-time freshmen who have attained at least a 3.5 high school GPA at the end of the junior year.


2). SRU Out-of-state scholarship: Scholarships are offered to a number of the highest ranking applicants for admission to SRU. Consideration will be given to first-time, out-of-state freshmen who have attained at least a 3.0 high school GPA.


3). SRU Honors College Scholarship: The Honors College at SRU provides numerous benefits to academically talented and motivated students including smaller classes, travel opportunities, participation in honors conferences, and research opportunities. Incoming freshmen who are admitted to the Honors College may qualify for an Honors College scholarship.


4). Haverlack Good Citizen Scholarship: Haverlack scholarships will support highly motivated, high-need students who demonstrate a "Servant Heart" and a commitment to becoming the community service leaders of tomorrow. Haverlack scholars will be expected to uphold community service as a way of life at Slippery Rock University and beyond.


5). PNPM Advisory Council Scholarship For Freshman: This scholarship is available to full-time incoming freshmen that are enrolled in the Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management program.


6). Dr. William Behre and Leah Ingram Endowed Scholarship: For students who demonstrate community service while in high school and show potential for continuing that service in college.


7). Meiping Cheng Memorial Scholarship: For students who are U.S. Citizens. Student must demonstrate a commitment to work, clubs, activities, and community services.


8). Howard L. and Margaret Rehm Headland Scholarship: Graduate of Woodland Hills High School, PA. Student must demonstrate a commitment to career development and community service.


9). Tony & Regina Robinson Endowed Scholarship: Preference given to Black and/or African American student living in Youngstown, Ohio and/or any municipality in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

 

Faculty - Specific Scholarships


Faculty of Business:


  1. Hunkler Computer Science Scholarship: Rewards academic excellence. Must be full-time and majoring in Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology.

  2. Dean Vansant Camp Scholarship: Must be a major in the School of Business.

  3. Case Scholarship: Must be an incoming freshman as well as a full-time student. The student must major in Information Systems and have a 3.0 QPA.

  4. Ben Addison Scholarship: School of Business or Computer Science major who has a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and will be a full time student.

  5. Strategic Communication and Media Department Scholarship: 3.25 high school GPA. Students selected for this scholarship will be notified March 31st.

  6. Brenda Lee Freshmen Scholarship: Student must be a full-time freshman student. First preference is an underrepresented minority incoming freshman in business with a 3.0 GPA

  7. Economics and Finance Scholarship: 3.0 High School QPA for Economics or Finance Major.

  8. Rihn Corpora Scholarship: Applicant must be a full time student majoring in accounting

  9. Thomas Neely Scholarship: An accounting or history major who has a minimum 2.5 QPA and demonstrates financial need.

  10. Mario and Seeme Moreira Accounting Scholarship: 3.0 high school QPA. Strong Interest in Accounting. Student must demonstrate financial need

 

College of Engineering and Science:


  1. Ben Addison Scholarship: School of Business or Computer Science major who has a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and will be a full time student.

  2. Susan Christie Scholarship: Must be a STEM major who lives in PA, OH and WV. Recipient must have financial need and be a full-time student. Preference is given to female students.

  3. Mary Frances Crawford Scholarship: Must be a full-time student with financial need majoring in one of the STEM fields. Primary residence in the PA counties of Allegheny, Butler, Washington, Westmoreland, Beaver, or Armstrong

  4. Dr. Robert Felix Scholarship: Must be a full-time student majoring in biology.

  5. Thomas Gaither Scholarship: SAT score of at least 1000 and in top 25% of high school class. Preference given to student interested in becoming a biologist, biology teacher, or entering the medical field. Must have financial need.

  6. Hunkler Computer Science Scholarship: Rewards academic excellence. Must be full-time and majoring in Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology.

  7. Thomas John Scholarship: Must be a Biology major. Top 20% of high school class or with a combined SAT score of 1,000 or a composite ACT score of 23 or better.

  8. Sharad Joshi Endowed Scholarship: Must be full-time and majoring in Computing. Must have financial need and good academic standing. Must have demonstrated good citizenship or leadership.

  9. Paul G. Johnson Scholarship: Must be an incoming freshman Chemistry Major

  10. Mathematics and Statistics First-Year Scholarship: This scholarship is for a first semester SRU student mathematics major. This includes transfers with a minimum GPA of 3.0 from any institution with 12 or more credits or incoming freshmen with a minimum high school GPA of 3.0. Financial need may be considered

  11. James Steel Scholarship: Biology Major. Top 20% of high school class or with a combined SAT score of 1,000 or a composite ACT score of 23 or better. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Preference given to applicants from Westmoreland County.

  12. Physics and Pre-Engineering Scholarship: Must have SAT score of 1000 (23 ACT). Top 20% of high school class.

  13. John P. Phillips Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to a Biology or Environmental Science major. Must be academically talented and have financial need.

  14. Dr. Frederick W. Vincent Scholarship: Natural Science major

  15. Pearl K. Stoner Scholarship: This scholarship is to be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student pursuing the Bachelor of Science degree in environmental studies or environmental science. Applicant must show financial need, demonstrate scholastic achievement of a minimum of 3.0 high school GPA

 

College of Health Professions :


  1. Susan L. Thomas '97 Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to an incoming freshman from Avonworth High School. Preference given to students interested in nursing, health sciences or exercise science.

  2. Dr. Sally J. Phillips Kinesiology Scholarship: Preference given to health and physical teach education, exercise science, and physical activity and fitness management majors. The applicant must be from Beaver County, have high academic achievement, and be Federal Pell Grant eligible. Must be a full-time student.
