Snowdon Master's Scholarships Overview

The Snowdon Master's Scholarship aims to accelerate exceptional disabled students through master's programs into leadership positions, fostering change and promoting disability inclusion across various sectors. The scholarship seeks individuals who leverage their lived experiences to create positive societal impact and serve as role models in their fields or communities.

 

Scholarship Benefits

  1. Financial Support: Up to £30,000, with up to £15,000 allocated for tuition fees paid directly to the university, and an additional £15,000 provided in termly installments to cover living expenses during the master's study.

  2. Networking Opportunities: Scholarship holders are invited to join the Disabled Leaders Network, offering a platform to connect with like-minded individuals and access resources to further their leadership journey.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Age: Applicants must be above 16 years.

  2. Educational Background: Applicants should have completed their undergraduate degree in the UK and/or possess UK home fee status.

  3. Residency: Candidates must reside in the UK for the duration of their master's course.

  4. Master's Degree Application: Applicants should be applying for their first master's degree. In exceptional cases, where disability-related reasons necessitate pursuing a second master's, applications will be considered if a compelling case is presented.

  5. Disability Criteria: Applicants must have a diagnosed disability (See below)

  6. Leadership Potential: Applicants should demonstrate ambitions to be thought leaders, subject leaders, or active participants in public life, aiming to drive societal change and promote inclusion.


Disability Criteria

You must have a diagnosis of one or more of the following:

  • A learning difference (e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, or AD(H)D)  

  • A visual impairment uncorrected by glasses (e.g. blindness or partial sight) 

  • A hearing impairment (e.g. D/deafness or partial hearing)

  • A physical impairment or challenges with mobility (e.g. climbing stairs or uneven surfaces), or dexterity (e.g. using a keyboard or laboratory equipment) 

  • A social, behavioural or communication impairment (e.g. an autistic spectrum condition or Tourette’s Syndrome)  

  • A long-term illness or health condition which may involve pain or cause fatigue, loss of concentration or breathing difficulties – including any effects from taking associated medication.  

  • Two or more impairments or conditions


⚠️ NOTE: If you experience a mental health condition, challenge, or disorder (e.g. anxiety or depression) you are only eligible to apply if you also have a diagnosis of one or more of the health conditions or impairments listed above.


 

Application Procedure

Applications for the Snowdon Master's Scholarships go through three stages as outlined below:


1. Stage 1 – Eligibility Application:

Complete the short eligibility application form available on the Snowdon Trust website by February 28, 2025. Applications will be reviewed within 10 working days.


2. Stage 2 – Detailed Application:

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit a comprehensive application detailing their academic background, leadership experience, and future aspirations. The deadline for stage two is March 17, 2025.


3. Stage 3 – Final Assessment:

Further shortlisted applicants will be asked to provide a video, audio, or written submission as part of the final evaluation with the deadline set on May 5, 2025.


4. Notification:

Finalists will be announced by the end of May 2025.
