The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2025 is a prestigious, fully-funded scholarship designed to support international students from various participating countries in pursuing their undergraduate, master's, or doctoral degrees at Hungarian universities. The Hungarian Scholarship Benefits
The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship offers comprehensive financial support to ensure that recipients can focus on their academic and professional growth, including:
Full Tuition Coverage: 100% Tuition fees waiver for the entire duration of the programme.
Monthly Stipend: Varies by study level (undergraduate: HUF 43,700, master's: HUF 43,700, doctoral: HUF 140,000 for the first phase and HUF 180,000 for the second phase per month).
Accommodation Contribution: Free dormitory place or a contribution of HUF 40,000 per month towards private accommodation costs.
Medical Insurance: Full Health care services at the public hospitals.
Alumni Network Access: Upon completing the scholarship, recipients join the Stipendium Hungaricum Alumni Network, providing ongoing professional development and networking opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria
Citizenship: Must be a citizen of one of the eligible participating countries (Check the official website for the list of eligible partner countries).
Education Level: Students must hold High school diploma for undergraduate studies, Bachelor degree for master's, and master's degree for PhD studies.
Prior Education: Cannot have received a prior Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship and applying for same study level.
English Language Proficiency: Varies by institution, generally IELTS, TOEFL will be sufficient, scores depend on the chosen institutions. If you have received your previous degree from an institution where English was the medium of instruction, then a certificate proving that will exempt you from submitting English language proficiency certificates.
ℹ️ NOTE: In addition to the general eligibility criteria above, students may have to meet University-Specific requirements which can vary by your chosen Institution. Also, each country (i.e, country of your citizenship might have specific requirements which you must check with the concerned authorities at your home country)
Application Procedure
The Applications for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship are submitted online through the online application portal and the application process follows below steps:
1. November - December 2024: Find Your Chosen Programme.
Available study fields differ from partner country to partner country. You can either check the study field provided for your country at the SH website or you can start an application in the DreamApply system and select the relevant study programme. You can check the list of sending partners and eligible study fields here.
2. December 2024: Contact Your Sending Partner.
Applications shall also be submitted to the responsible authority of the sending partner. Each sending partner might have different deadlines and requirements for submitting the application material. Contact your sending partner (which can be the local Hungarian Embassy, the related ministry, council etc.) to inquire about their exact procedures.
3. December 2024: Register And Upload Your Documents.
You can browse 30 universities and colleges (more than 800 study programmes), but only 2 choices are allowed. Make sure that your chosen programmes are relevant to the field of your studies. If you apply for doctoral studies, please remember that you may need to find a supervisor (depending on the requirements of the chosen Doctoral School). Required documents may vary according to your level of study and nationality.

4. 15th January 2025, 2 pm (CET): Application Deadline
Your application must be submitted by the deadline. Please make sure that all required documents are attached and all the required fields are filled out properly before submitting your application. Please read the Call for Applications 2025/2026 PDFs below for details:
5. February 2025: Sending Partner’s Nomination List
Sending partners will nominate the best applicants by the end of February, and nominated applications will subsequently be forwarded to the chosen Hungarian higher institutions.
6. Until 15th March 2025: Statement of The Supervisor (if required by the proposed Doctoral School)
Applicants for doctoral programmes need to submit a statement of supervisor (if required by the proposed Doctoral School).
7. Until 15 April 2025: Submitting Medical Certificate
The applicants nominated by the Sending Partners need to submit the scanned copy of a medical certificate of satisfactory health condition.
8. March-April-May 2025: Entrance Exams At Hungarian Universities
The universities will get in touch with the nominated applicants directly to set a date and conduct the entrance exams from the middle of March until the end of May. Your exam scores must be a minimum of 56 out of 100 points for your application to be considered for the final list of scholarship awardees.
The entrance Exams generally consist of an online interview with the university you've applied for, also, some programs may conduct some exams in specific fields, for example, students applying for Engineering programs may have to undertake an evaluation exam in physics and mathematics.
9. June 2025: Final Results and Acceptance
After evaluating the applications and the results of the exams, Tempus Public Foundation (as the coordinator of the scholarship) will inform the applicants of the official results of the applications by the end of June/beginning of July.
