The Swedish Institute Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship 2025 is a prestigious, fully-funded scholarship designed to support female students from select African and Asian countries in pursuing a master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) at Swedish universities. This scholarship aims to promote gender diversity in STEM fields, contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and foster a network of future leaders who will drive positive change in their home countries.
Scholarship Key Details
• Eligible Countries: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam.
• Study Level: Master's (in a STEM field)
• Scholarship Coverage: Full tuition fee, monthly stipend of SEK 12,000, and a one-time travel grant of SEK 15,000.
• Program Duration: One or two years.
• Application Deadline: January 15, 2025.
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship offers comprehensive financial support to ensure that recipients can focus on their academic and professional growth:
• Full Tuition Coverage: Tuition fees are paid directly to the Swedish university each semester.
• Monthly Stipend: SEK 12,000 per month for living expenses during the study period.
• Travel Grant: A one-time payment of SEK 15,000 for travel costs (not applicable for students already residing in Sweden).
• Professional Development Network: Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) for networking and career-building opportunities.
• Alumni Network Access: Upon completing the scholarship, recipients join the SI Alumni Network, providing ongoing professional development and networking opportunities.
ℹ️Note: The scholarship does not include insurance, application fees, or financial support for family members. It also cannot be extended or changed for a different program.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Citizenship: Must be a female citizen of one of the following countries: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam
2. Education Level: Must be admitted to a designated master's program in Sweden.
3. Prior Education: Cannot have received a prior SI Scholarship or a degree from a Swedish university, nor have lived in Sweden for more than two years prior to the application.
4. Programs: The scholarship is awarded for programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) (See a list here)
5. Application: Must apply for the master's program through the University Admissions Portal and be admitted by January 15, 2025, (or conditionally admitted) by 27 March 2025.
Application Process
1. Pick your Master's Programs: See the list of eligible programs and pick your preferred one from the list provided (Find them here).
2. Apply for the Program: Submit your application through University Admissions, the unified admission system for Swedish Universities.
3. Pay the Application Fee and Submit Documents: Ensure the application fee and all required supporting documents are submitted by 3 February 2025.
4. Let SI know you have applied: fill out the form to let The Swedish Institute know that you have applied to a programme eligible for the SI Scholarship Pioneering women in STEM (Find out the form here)
5. Admission Notification: Receive conditional admission by March 27, 2025.
6. Scholarship Announcement: Receive scholarship results by April 24, 2025.
