TAGDev 2.0 Scholarship 2024-25 for African Students (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the 'Transforming African Agricultural Universities to Meaningfully Contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development (TAGDev 2.0) program' for 2024-2025 intake. The TAGDev 2.0 Scholarship is a fully funded program aimed at transforming African agricultural universities to contribute significantly to the continent's growth and development. It's a partnership between the Mastercard Foundation and the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM).

TAGDev 2.0 Scholarship Overview

The program seeks to strengthen universities and TVET institutions to better serve communities by skilling and empowering Africa’s young people and their institutions to drive inclusive, equitable and climate resilient transformation of agriculture and agrifood systems. The program will support young African students that are economically disadvantaged but academically competent to enable them complete their studies. The scholarship is open to both female and male applicants. However, applications from females, refugees and persons with disabilities are highly encouraged.

 

Scholarship Coverage

The TAGDev 2.0 scholarship is a fully funded that provides awardees with the following benefits:

  • Tuition Fees

  • Living Expenses: This includes a stipend and hostel costs.

  • Research Costs

  • Workshop and Conference Costs

  • Laptop

  • Field Attachment and Internship Costs

  • Community Engagement and Entrepreneurship Training

Scholarships for 2024/2025 academic year are only available at:

  1. Gulu University (Uganda)

  2. Egerton University (Kenya)

b) At Egerton University


• Undergraduate

1. BSc. Agricultural Education and Extension

2. BSc. Science in Agriculture


• Masters

1. MSc Agri Enterprise Development

2. MSc Environmental Studies

 

Eligibility criteria

Applicants to the TAGDev 2.0 Scholarship need to take note of the following key eligibility criteria.

1. Be a national of Kenya and Uganda to benefit from the national respective scholarship quota

2. Be a refugee residing in Uganda and Kenya to benefit from a regional quota

3. Be from economically disadvantaged, marginalized communities, coming from conflict and post conflict areas.

4. Be less than 25 years for undergraduate and less than 30 years for masters studies at the time of application.

5. Be 29 years and below for a refugee and persons with disability for undergraduate studies and 34 years and below for refugees and persons with disability for masters studies at the time of application.

6. Should have completed secondary school and/or diploma for a Bachelors degree application not more than two years from the time of this call.

7. The applicant should meet admission criteria to eligible programs in the university of choice (Egerton University or Gulu University).

8. For admission into Gulu University for an undergraduate degree programme one must have attained a High School Certificate (HSC)

also known as Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent.

9. For admission into Egerton University one must have completed the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education(KCSE) or its equivalent.

10. Demonstrate interest in agriculture, agribusiness and

entrepreneurship

11. Demonstrate leadership qualities and commitment to service of

humanity

 

Application procedure

Applicants are encouraged to fill out the online application and print it out to attach to their application for admission to the university of choice. The procedure for submitting the TAGDev 2.0 scholarship application through the RUFORUM Information Management System (RIMS) is as follows:


• Access the RIMS Web Portal through; https://rims2.ruforum.org/


• Create your account by clicking on Register Here


• An email will be sent to your valid email address to activate your account. Please check in the Spam or Junk for message in case activation mail is not reflected in your inbox.


• Login using your email and password you used for creating.


• After successful login, the Applicant Dashboard will appear with different options.


• Go to Calls - Scholarship Calls


• Select the Call ID: RU/2024/TAGDev- 2.0/001


• Click Apply to start filling the Application Form.


• Remember to save while filling the form by "Clicking Save Draft"


• Download, print and submit it with your application form for admission to the University of your choice.


• Depending on the University you are applying to, you may either submit the document in hard copy or simply attach it on the university online portal. For any assistance, contact the administrator at (mcf@ruforum.org)
