TDR Scholarship Overview
The TDR Postgraduate Scholarship in Implementation Research is funded by the UNICEF/UNDP/World Bank/WHO Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR). The programme focuses on strengthening research capacity in Implementation Research (IR), particularly in addressing:
Epidemics and outbreaks
Control and elimination of diseases of poverty
Climate change’s impact on health
Antimicrobial resistance
The scholarship supports students in developing research skills that help identify and overcome health system barriers, ensuring that interventions reach the most vulnerable populations. The programme is designed for professionals working in academic institutions, research organizations, or public health ministries. Scholarship recipients will be expected to complete a dissertation focused on IR related to infectious diseases of poverty.
The scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to join the global prestigious alumni platform IR connect, which would monitor the impact of the training programme on their career and allow them to network with other alumni for further career opportunities.

TDR Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be a national and resident of an English-speaking WHO African region country
Be 37 years old or younger
Meet the University of Ghana’s admission requirements for graduate studies
Be proficient in English
Be employed by an academic or research institution, non-profit organization, or ministry of health in an LMIC in the WHO African region
Identify a local supervisor or mentor before the programme starts
Have computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis software
ℹ️ The selection process will consider merit, gender balance, and geographic representation.

1. Apply to the University of Ghana
Visit the University of Ghana admissions website and select either "Ghanaian Applicant" or "International Applicant."
Create an account, log in, and complete the application process.
Choose either the Master of Public Health (Social and Behavioral Sciences) or the MSc in Applied Health Social Science.
2. Apply for the TDR Scholarship
After completing the University of Ghana application, log in here using your application serial number and pin.
Fill out the TDR Postgraduate Scholarship application form.
Upload all required documents.
