The Aziz Foundation Scholarships 2025 For British Muslims | A Comprehensive Guide

Applications will soon open for the Aziz Foundation Scholarships for British Muslim Graduate Students.


The Aziz Foundation Scholarships are prestigious awards designed to support British Muslims pursuing postgraduate studies in the UK. These scholarships provide 100% tuition fee coverage for Masters programs at selected universities, aiming to empower students with career aspirations in various fields. 48 institutions have so far joined the Aziz Foundation Preferred Partner scheme and fulfilled the conditions of admittance.

Scholarships will be offered only to candidates studying Masters degrees at the institutions listed below:

  • University of Essex

  • University of Exeter

  • University of Hertfordshire

  • University of Greenwich

  • University of Liverpool

  • The University of Manchester: School of Arts, Languages and Cultures

  • University of Nottingham (excluding: MRes, MPhil and MBAs)

  • University of St Andrews (excluding: MRes, MPhil, MFAs)

  • University of Salford

  • The University of Sheffield

  • University of Stirling

  • University of Sunderland

  • University of Sussex (excluding: Online courses, Institute of Development Studies courses)

  • University of Warwick

  • University of Westminster

  • University of Winchester

  • University of York

  • Wolfson College, University of Cambridge

 

Eligible Fields of Study

The scholarship supports studies in the following fields:

  • Media & Journalism

  • Technology

  • Sustainability / Environment

  • Law

  • Policy (excluding Health Policy)

  • Arts & Culture

  • Philanthropy & Grantmaking

  • Sports

Aziz Foundation Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Aziz Foundation Scholarships, applicants must:

  1. Be eligible for Home fees status

  2. Be active within a Muslim community and demonstrate intimate knowledge of issues affecting British Muslim communities

  3. Demonstrate long-term commitment to community/societal development within Britain

  4. Show how the course will increase their effectiveness in one of the following areas relating to British Muslims:

    1). Effective Advocacy and Enhance Public Perception, 2). Community Service and Social Development

  5. The Aziz Foundation prioritises scholarships for candidates who can demonstrate that they cannot afford all or part of the tuition fees for their proposed Masters course.

  6. These scholarships are being given as Zakat. Therefore, applicants will have to self-assess to determine their Zakat eligibility (please use the Islamic Relief and/or NZF Zakat calculator(s) as an indicator. Application Procedure

1. Online Application

Applications are submitted online through the Aziz Foundation online application portal. The application form includes:

  • Questions about previous education

  • Work experience

  • Financial means

  • A statement of no more than 1,000 words about how you meet the Foundation’s criteria

  • The names of two referees


2. Shortlisting and Interviews

If your application is shortlisted you will be invited to attend an interview.


The interview will be around 30 minutes long and will explore questions around:

  • Challenges facing British Muslims;

  • Vision and hopes for change;

  • Personal qualities needed to succeed;

  • Financial barriers faced


Key dates

The assessment and awards process will be carried out over two cycles in 2025 as follows:


Cycle1

  • Application Dates: 13th Jan from 11am – 4th April, 12 noon

  • Interview dates: Feb-April

  • Award dates: Mid May


Cycle 2

  • Application Dates: 8th April from 11am – 20th June, 12 noon

  • Interview dates: April - July

  • Award dates: Late July
