Applications are now open for The British Academy Visiting Fellowships 2025, which represent a prestigious opportunity for exceptional scholars from around the globe to engage in collaborative research within the UK's vibrant academic landscape. Offering up to £40,000 in funding, these fellowships invite academics particularly at PostDoc levels from any discipline within the humanities and social sciences to be based at a UK higher education or other research institution of their choice for up to six months.
Value and duration
Visiting Fellowships are available for a period of between 3 to 6 months. Applicants will be asked to provide their preferred start date for their Fellowship over the spring and summer (March-August 2025).
The maximum funding available is £40,000.
Eligibility requirements
The eligibility criteria for The British Academy Visiting Fellowships 2025 are as follows:
• Academic Level: Applicants must be at postdoctoral level or above or have equivalent research experience at the time of application.
• Location: Candidates should be based outside the UK at the time of application.
• Contracts: Applicants may be on permanent or fixed-term contracts. Applicants must demonstrate that they have been in contact with their UK host institution prior to applying. Those on fixed-term contracts must ensure their contract does not end before the fellowship’s conclusion.
