Stellenbosch University (SU) is proud to announce the inaugural Nobantu and Thukela Gobodo Memorial Doctoral Scholarships for 2025/2026 academic year. These scholarships are funded by a portion of the Templeton Prize awarded to Prof Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela, established in memory of her parents, Nobantu and Thukela Gobodo. The scholarships aim to support high-caliber doctoral students in the Humanities and Social Sciences, focusing on research projects that examine the transgenerational effects of historical trauma and seek to investigate pathways for societal change. The Nobantu and Thukela Gobodo Memorial Doctoral Scholarships are a testament to Prof Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela’s commitment to fostering significant research that acknowledges past injustices while striving towards a more equitable future.
