Embark on a visual journey through the lens of youth with the UNESCO Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads International Photo Contest 2024. This year's edition is inviting photographers from across the globe to capture the vibrant tapestry of life along the ancient trade routes that once connected the East and West. With a focus on “Life Celebrations”, the contest celebrates the rich cultural heritage and shared history of the Silk Roads, offering a platform for young talent to shine and share their unique perspectives. Whether it’s the joyous revelry of a traditional festival or the quiet moments of daily life, the contest seeks to illuminate the diverse ways in which communities along the Silk Roads honor their customs and traditions.

Theme
The theme for the 2024 edition is “Life Celebrations”, inviting participants to capture the essence of cultural celebrations along the historic Silk Roads.
To give you an idea about this year's theme, UNESCO suggests the following fields through which your pictures can originate from:
Birth and Naming ceremonies.
Baptisms
Anniversaries
Rites of Passage
Engagement Ceremonies and Weddings
Transition of the seasons (Spring or Autumn Festivals, Nowruz, etc.)
Religious Observances and Celebrations
Traditional Funeral services

Eligibility and Categories
Young people around the world, aged 14 to 25 years old, are eligible to participate.
There will be two categories:
14 to17 Years old
18 to 25 Years old

To participate, minors must provide written permission from their legal guardian(s). Use below template to write the consent letter from your guardian.

No minors’ participation will be accepted by the Organization without their written permission.
Prizes
First place winners will receive a professional camera.
Second place winners will receive a semi- professional camera.
Third place winners will receive a standard- model digital camera
Submission procedure
• Interested photographers are invited to submit maximum of 20 photographs through this online portal.
• Submission Deadline: 14 July 2024
• The announcement of this photography contest will be made on the Organizer’s websites (in particular on: (https://en.unesco.org/silkroad )and social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest), as well as on its partners’ websites and social media.
