University of Sydney RTP scholarships 2025

The University of Sydney is inviting international applications to their Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships. RTP scholarships University of Sydney aims to support outstanding domestic and international postgraduate research students pursuing higher degrees by research. These scholarships provide financial assistance in the form of a stipend, tuition fee offsets, and other benefits to help students focus on their research.

RTP scholarships at University of Sydney cover a broad spectrum of academic disciplines, allowing students to pursue research that aligns with their interests and career goals. Almost all master's or PhD by research programme at the university are eligible for the scholarship.

 

University of Sydney RTP scholarships benefits

The University of Sydney's Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships offer several benefits to support postgraduate research students. Here are the key benefits:


  1. Annual Stipend: A stipend of $41,753 per annum (2025 rate), indexed annually.

  2. Relocation Allowance: Up to $1,485 for travel to Sydney at the beginning and return travel after program completion.

  3. Thesis Allowance: Up to $420 for master’s candidates and $840 for doctoral candidates.

  4. Paid Leave: 20 days of recreation leave and 10 days of sick leave annually, with additional paid sick and parental leave available.

  5. Tuition Fee Offset: For international students, 100% tuition fee offset for up to 14 research periods.

 

Eligibility Criteria


• Academic Achievement: Applicants must have an outstanding academic record

• Research Potential: Demonstrated research potential is crucial, and research publications are highly regarded

• Enrollment Status: You must be either currently enrolled or have an unconditional offer of admission for a higher degree by research at the University of Sydney

• Previous Awards: Applicants who have previously completed an HDR program at the same level or received an Australian Government or University scholarship for an HDR course at the same level are not eligible.

 

How to apply

Before submitting your application, please be mindful of the application deadlines, which vary depending on your research period. For example, for Research Period 1 and 2, 2025, the submission deadline is October 22, 2024, with outcomes received by December 13, 2024.

Currently, Research Period 3 and 4, 2025 are open for international students' applications with deadline set on 17 December 2024.
